Hotel Rural El Angel de la Guarda

Beautiful old building and owners were friendly and helped us to organise a taxi into the next town for dinner as the local restaurant is closed all day on a Tuesday. We did not stay for breakfast as we were walking the Camino but the owner gave us a snack for the journey. Bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable.

We arrived at lunchtime on a Tuesday and there are no shops in the village and the local restaurant is closed on Tuesday so there was nowhere to get a cold drink or anything to eat. A taxi to the closest restaurant for dinner was 40 euro.

This was one of our favourite places to stay walking the northern Camino. Our room was beautiful, the hostess was super helpful, and the breakfast was delicious!

The old building is beautiful. The host is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is abundant and delicious. The room and bed were clean and comfortable. The views are amazing.

We arrived on Tuesday, so there was to be no dinner available, which is a worry after walking 31km of the Camino. However, we were lucky that La Terraza restaurant opened on a night that it's usually closed, otherwise we would have been very hungry!

We did not expect much from this property, as it is described as "rural" and is relatively inexpensive. But it turned out to be one of the gems of our Camino Norte walk: Friendly and very cozy, with good facilities. Our room had a bathtub with massage jets, a true treat after a long day of walking! The top floor of the house has a nice communal lounge with comfy chairs and even a hammock. The breakfast was good for this type of guesthouse. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful but be prepared for some language barriers if you speak only English.

There are no dining facilites in the property, but a really good restaurant is just a 50m walk away.
