Convenient stop-over for Gotthard (S side heading N)

Decent overnight accommodation. Very convenient for an early start for the southern side of the Gotthard Tunnel. Adequate breakfast but nothing exciting The room was a decent size and met all practical needs. Free and ample parking. Lots of Tesla charging stations.

No fitness room, unfortunately. Lack of power sockets in the room in general but specifically no bedside sockets for charging appliances.

Relaxing stay in a clean and efficient motel handily positioned for access to and from the autoroute

Very easy to find, located just to the south of the Gotthard tunnel. The location is quiet, there is ample parking. The restaurant provides a limited menu but the food choices are good and of good quality. The menu is fixed price and excellent value for money. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel location is pet friendly. The local council provides facilities to clean up after a dog including free bags (on Via di Mezzo behind the hotel). From Via di Mezzo there is a good walk reached by taking the road under the autoroute and out past the funicular railway. There is a petrol station close to the hotel which was handy to fill up in the morning. On the day we left to head to Basel the tunnel was closed. Fortunately the hotel location gives easy access to the Gotthard Pass so we were able to bypass the tunnel when we saw the log queues.

Good enough for a one night stop-over

We were las at breakfast and there was little left. The roomed a decent size but with three beds in it there was little space left. Piotta is a semi-deserted small village where there is little to do or to see.

nice hotel near Gottard tunnel

The location is right after the Gottard tunnel, coming from Lucerne towards Lugano. It's in a nice and quiet area. The room was clean and the breakfast was decent. As a plus, it has free parking and multiple charging stations if you have an electric car.

Close to Gotthard tunnel and Ambri Piotta Arena

It´s half an hour walk to the Icehockey Arena of Ambri Piotta and not far away from the motorway. They have a bar which is open until 02:00 am and this of course very positive, as there is not much around.

The location is good, if you want to stay near the St. Gotthardt tunnel on the way to/from Italy.

Where to start?! When we booked via Booking.com, we selected a room for two persons. The last option was a tripple room for two. Upon arrival at night, the receptionist remarked in a very rude manner that we had booked a room for three, but we were only two people. Mind you, that was the only option via Booking and we paid for a proper three-bedroom. Since he was obviously annoyed, we said that we would be glad to downgrade to a two-bedroom, but then he told us they were booked out. We didn’t understand his point at all. Then we tried to find a parking slot just to find out that there was none. After a while, another staff member moved his car, which was parked in front of the hotel’s backdoor and told us to just park there. It was a bad spot, but at least we were able to park there in the end. The room was very simple, the hallway run down. Breakfast was very basic with limited options and it was presented in an unhygienic way, especially considering Covid measures. When you want to use the restrooms on the ground floor where breakfast is served, you will find that the doors are locked and a bartender will tell you you have to buy a drink at the bar, so they will unlock the restroom door. Poor value for money. We suggest to find a better place.

Very nice and comfortable, but maybe too expensive for a highway motel

We stayed one night for a stopover during our trip to Italy. The hotel has a perfect location on the highway, just after the Gotthard Tunnel It was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and they propose also dinner menu, which we didn’t try. The personnel was friendly.

It was too expensive for a Motel, but I guess this is normal in Switzerland.
