Sphendon Hotel

This is the second time I have stayed here. The location is awesome - so close to the main sights, but tucked away, lovely and quiet. There is a great view from the rooftop terrace, although the terrace itself is not particularly welcoming. My room was simple, but clean and comfortable. The little convenience store next door has everything you need, and is run by such a lovely man. As a solo traveller I feel very safe here.

I am not a big person (60kg) and using the toilet is uncomfortable because the shower is so close that my thigh touches the glass. My only other issue is a temporary one. The street was closed off at one end due to some sort of maintenance - walking only. My taxi from the airport dropped me off at the other end, which was perfectly fine for me with my one backpack. On my return to the airport there was a huge muck around and confusion because the driver couldn't get to me - not the hotel's fault, but something to be noted.

The hotel is conveniently located near great tourist sites and restaurants.

Breakfast advertised as unlimited, however it was one small plate and no opportunity to refill. It also took nearly 30 minutes to prepare. The actual food tasted great, and was probably good value for €5.50
