The Clan MacGregor Room

I spent three comfy nights in the MacGregor room while I was visiting my aunt in hospital - and I felt very much at ease there; it actually reminded me of staying at my aunt's house, where everything's a little bit retro but functional and clean and homely. The hosts Jimmy and Catriona are a lovely welcoming couple, and I'll certainly book to stay with them again depending upon how things pan out over the coming weeks.

A shelf above the sink to put toiletries on would be a welcome addition in the bathroom.

Location and parking were perfect. No distractions. Tea coffee and milk were provided along with a tv, fridge, microwave, toaster, iron and ironing board. On suite with good shower

I liked the quiet location, the owner James was very polite and friendly, the room was well equipped and comfortable. The property has free parking.

The property was advertised as having an indoor pool, which is doesn't and I chose this property, on that basis.

The room had everything we needed especially a fridge good location good parking.

There was a musty wet dog smell as you entered the premises in the hallway.

Lots of thoughtful touches, such as milk and cereals. Quiet location but handy for buses to the town centre. Comfy beds, good sized room.

Pillows a little thin but apart from that no complaints

Great Location, room was well equipped with a fridge, toaster and microwave which was a godsend with my child who loves a warm milk for breakfast.

It is in need of updating, the en-suite was very dated. No staff around to request any extra toilet roll or coffee for the 3 nights we stayed.

Does not follow COVID guidelines- filthy Booked for 7 nights. Left after 2 nights. Everything was dirty - kettle, toaster, glasses, microwave,fridge, plates, table cloth , valence sheet, doors. Advertises toiletries- these consisted of a bar of used Palmolive soap and a half used hand wash. You have to wash your dishes in the bathroom sink. When I approached the owner regarding above and asked for the room to be cleaned and showed him all the dirty items he laughed in my face and said it wasn’t the Dorchester! When I said you are supposed to be following the Covid guidelines ( which it does say on his Booking.com site) , he said ‘I don’t bother with that’!!! Even the honey left in the fridge expired in 2020 as did the coffee sachets. The cereal expired in April 21. There is no where in the bathroom to hang a bath towel or bath robe, only a hand towel ring, I just had to put it on the floor. Went to Travelodge, which was clean and followed Covid guidelines. Terrible place. Disappointing.As an NHS worker, who has adhered to the guidelines and worked throughout Covid and desperately needed this break , I was horrified to see the state of everything. Can I also mention , that although there was a smoke alarm outside the rooms, it never flashed. There are no fire exit signs or fire assembly point signs.
