House 30, Sodwana Bay Lodge

We always stay at Sodwana Bay Lodge. First time at this house. The houses are set up for beach and fishing and diving holidays and they are all lovely. This house was decorated so elegantly and felt a class above the other. The housekeeper was an absolute star and her daily assistance to maintain the 6x double bedroom house, was such a blessing.

The house was really perfect and spacious and clean and comfortable and wonderful. So hard to find anything we didnt like. If I have to find something, my husband and son-in-laws are all very tall 6+ Feet men and we missed our kingsize beds. But everything else was delightfully perfect. I am accustomed to the houses being equipped for divers and I missed having a marine fish book to debrief through in the evenings. Perhaps one was previously there and previous guests accidently left with it.

Loved the kitchen set up and appliances. Well equipped will all high quality and well maintained.

The bedding was clean but had a stale smell.

The Lodge is very well stocked with items for self-catering. All knives and scissors were sharp and we never had to search for a utensil. The rooms were comfortable and the space was large enough for our large party to never feel cramped.

The showers were slightly temperamental and the toaster was not in great working order.

It was spacious and well equipped. The deck was great. Furniture good as well. Great ice machine. And lovely housekeeper.

We used three of the bedrooms and two had very unbalanced hot and cold water in the showers, the hot almost burnt my 84 year old father and then went cold. The braai is a bit damaged, and there was no way to light it, no matches or fire lighter. We also had a neighbour playing loud music for a few hours. We did report the shower issue to the reception but they did not know how to fix it. Also the owner is very slow to reply to messages.
