Beautifully landscaped, sublime setting, stunning remake of a century-old manor.

Only complaint is poor lighting in our room. No bedside lamps, very dim lighting in the bathroom—impossible to out on makeup. That defect really undermined the stay.

Everything!!!! We cannot wait to return to this gem of a resort.

The staff were all superb. Our bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Our breakfast was both beautifully presented and delicious. The room was quiet and temperature regulation was excellent- we could adjust this to our liking. The lake had great snowshoeing.

It had snowed on the day of our arrival and snow removal didn't happen until the next day. My husband shoveled our walkway (shovel was conveniently leaning against the door) after slipping on it. This just shouldn't have happened. The spa area wasn't cleared of snow either for those using this amenity in the evening so we walked in wet slippers through snow covered steps and all the chairs were covered with snow. The added care and attention to detail of making sure this was not the case is what makes a place superior- you missed the mark here. The lack of a changing area and shower for the spa was uncomfortable for us. We were in an out building so couldn't just walk up to our room. The bar wasn't open until 11, just until dinner service was complete. We missed the opportunity for a nightcap. Perhaps house wine or beer could have been offered until 11? We had no reading lights for our bed and the master light control was across the room- the light was inadequate for reading no matter, but the idea of turning the light out and then walking across the room to the bed ( it was a big room) was not the most convenient. Lighting was poor anyway- just a dimness. The room was architecturally superb, but it was devoid of furniture. For such a large room an entire seating arrangement, or at least a sofa and table, could be in there. It could fit other furniture as well. It felt like a huge room with a bed in the corner devoid of proper lighting. The bathroom sink cold and hot water were reversed. Cold was on the left, hot on the right. All in all there are quite a few places for improvement at this property.
