B&B Palazzo San Michele

The room we had was well appointed, spacious & clean. The breakfast was simple but tasty & housekeeper who looked after us was attentive & friendly. The location is very central to the old town & port, the owners also own the Octopus 🐙 shop below, so it can be noisy in the afternoon: evening & Saturday night (we had the window open)

The spa use comes at an additional cost for a whole days use, so we chose not to use it.

The matress of the bed was a bit too soft for our taste.

Location was the best, just on the fringe of Bari Old Town, makes the access from a taxi a short walk dragging your luggage. It is right on the alley where various eateries are present and so is if you choose to walk inwards. On the outwards there are a string of dining options. Across the main road are various shops, cafes and restaurants, including mini-markets. Most importantly places to purchase your local SIM cards. Also the Basilica of St. Nicholas is easily accessible through winding alleys, if you do it early morning, its not crowded and you may catch the morning mass - which we did. The waterfront is a 5 mins walk - basically most attractions are within a fair walking distance. At the offset the owner was very helpful when we realised we forgot to pack power socket adapters - hsi son Simon graciously handed over his powerbank for our stay. Since we were there for 1 night, it was sufficient. Breakfast was nothing fancy but adequate, Milk, eggs, croissants, toast, butterjam and fruits, Tea Coffee and all

The owner Michael/Mikele was freindly and spoke little english and relied on his staff to converse. There is no lift and the stairs are quite narrow and steep - there is one room on each floor. Although he and his staff helped in moving our luggage up and down, its not comfortable. There was absolutely no response to our messages over Booking.com, which was worrisome. It seems drinking water bottles are not complimentary in the room. So Michael/Mikele suddenly didn't appear to even recognise us when we wanted some water bottles. Since he runs a few outlets on the alley, he is arround and needs to be fetched by one of the staff members.

Great location, large room, large modern bathroom

No communication on how to access the property. No response to my messages. Even when we arrived at the Octopus Street Food shop next door it took some time for the lady behind the counter to get hold of the owner for the keys. Smell of octopus
