Aldeia do Sanguinho

The remote location in the middle of the mountain side being close to nature and being surrounded by lush greenery. There were occasional hikers making their way through, looking for the local water fall, which was about a 25min hike. There was a little coffee shop are with covered and outdoor seating with a number of cats relaxing all day. We had to opportunity to have fresh bread each day whilst we stayed and on a few occasions the bread was still warm from baking 😍 The village history is quite fascinating as is wondering around and seeing some of the old houses being reclaimed by nature. The hosts were excellent, friendly and communicative. Checking in process was clear and straight forward as was the checkout process. It was a relaxed affair all around. Unless you have mobility issues, I would highly recommend staying at this remote location.

We had some ant guests who wanted to stay, had to brush them out and feed them some jam. They were harmless.

Awesome location, probably the quietest and wildest area of ​​Sao Miguel. A perfectly equipped house in the middle of nature. Very kindly host, helped us with everything we needed. The village is a 10-15 minute walk from the car park, but well worth it.

Would be nice to include a light in the rooftop. For example, in case you want to make a BBQ at the evening which I really recommend.

The sanguinho village is very peaceful and it has been incredible to stay 4 nights in the « wild » without any city noise other than birds and the waterfall. House is very well equiped for cooking and the bathroom is very luxurious for how isolated we are. Joao is a very kind and brought us to the house with his 4x4. The famous waterfall is only 20-30minuted walk from the place so you can enjoy at priviliged moments Drinkable water coming directly from the moutain is accessible at the center of the village and it tastes delicious Would come back any time, our best stay of the trip in the acores, plus it has great value for money !

Not much

We stayed 4 nights and we wish we had stayed longer, because we felt so calm and embraced by nature there. It was definitely the best stay in São Miguel. If you are looking for great trails and be surrounded by trees and flowers and birds this is it. João, the host, is very hospitable. The few people living in the village are also great. We stayed in the beautiful banana plantation house, which is quite big for a couple; it's a bit basic but in perfect sync with the whole place.
