It was very central, good for us. It was ok clean and tidy ,nicely decorated. Reasonably comfortable. Quiet.

The entrance and stairs. I was shocked to see how badly cared for, the stair carpets were really dirty and shabby. Needed a good clean,piles of mail all over the floor. If the apartment was like it when we went in we would have walked away and found somewhere else. For a family of 4 there are not enough cooking pans, very poor selection. I never used their towels or t towels as they looked like rags,so I went to Tesco and bought some. Bath panel is loose and it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for months. Sheets did not fit the bed, it is comfortable and very nice bedding. Needs a light over the bathroom mirror for shaving,far too dark. We would not stay again, I prefer to stay in a cottage, but we thought we would give an apartment a go.

Great location and great apartment

Fabulous location, great sized apartment equipped with everything we needed.

The neighbours opposite - shared door leads to apartment 1 (the holiday let) and apartment 2. The family living in apartment were very loud, talking, shouting and arguing, slamming doors etc. late into the night (our second night it went on til after 1am). Apartment itself was well equipped but is generally a bit tired - the bathroom in particular

I don’t recommend, unless you’re a man who hates to close the toilet lid.

The kitchen was well equipped, with dishwasher and washing machine. It was very central for all activities, lots of restaurants in walking distance.

The entrance to the building is very shabby and creepy. And smelly…The sofa was old and worn out. It was very uncomfortable to sit on it. There’s no lid on the loo, which not only looks disgusting, but is also unhealthy. And the part that was there to sit on didn’t fit. The mattresses were worn out, too, and the most uncomfortable on our trip. As the flat is located at the main road there was so much traffic till after midnight, the bedrooms go out to the street, so there was a lot of noise, even with windows closed. The butcher, a few houses away, starts to work at 3 am. That was noisy, too. I don’t blame the noise on the owner, but people should know that when they’re booking. There’s a parking spot that is booked with the apartment, but that’s a short walk away. We didn’t park there, so that’s all I can say about it. We left the car at the car park at market place between 6 pm and 8 am. There was a washing machine but nothing to dry the laundry on, so you can’t really wash.

It was a modern equipped apartment .

It was an issue to find the apartment and the sign to the Regent House small and insignificant. The noise was horrendous and disturbed our night tremendously. When we got there there were no clear map of exactly where to park our car . It was a wild goose chase and we could never find the right spot . The co ordinates given was wrong and we ended up in various small parking areas but was scolded by residents to have been taking up their space . We had to leave our rented car in a street parking setting an alarm to wake up in time to move it before any more fines or scolding . Our experience to see the James Herriot house and museum made up for this bad night in a extremely noisy street apartment. Our worst during our tour of the Dales

Great location

Thirsk is a lovely place to stay and easy to travel to other parts of Yorkshire. The apartment was very clean and comfortable.

As it was summertime and hot outside so windows open it was very noisy from the traffic and people walking home. Access up all the stairs was slightly annoying

No wardrobe in 2nd bedroom and in the first bedroom only 6 coat hangers for 4 lady's and 4 towels we where their four days also in the 1 wardrobe there was a xmas tree stuffed in and couldn't hang your clothes ps I bought some coat hangers .....lots of stairs up to to apartments

Good central location let down by care and maintenance.

Good central location . Good size rooms.

Dirty common areas of building with grubby carpet and piles of uncollected junk mail inside main building door. It’s a bit sad when the short term tenant cleans up after everyone else. No lid on toilet so faecal matter aspirated around the bathroom when flushed (as per scientific studies) No bin liner and gunk in bin, tenants were asked to take rubbish out but no bin liner provided. We left a bin liner for the next tenant. Crockery and glassware was dirty with lip stick stains on glasses. Dishwasher but no tablets. We supplied our own and put all dishes and glasses through dishwasher before use. Left a few tablets gif the next person. There was about 1cm of watered down dishwashing liquid for any hand washing . I would not stay again.

Apartment very roomy and comfortable. Location was excellent. Cafes, restaurants, shops on your doorstep. Parking for the car was very straightforward. Tescos a very short walk away.

We didn't get to grips with the TV remote control but we're old and we did manage. The stairs! but we did know the apartment was not on the groud floor. Good exercise for us!

Weekend in Thirsk

Clean, spacious, good location, comfortable beds and sofa, big TV. Good acoustics between the living room and bedrooms - baby slept well, but only until the noise from the gym below started in the morning.

Could use hand towels in the kitchen, some small shampoo and body wash soaps in the bathroom, and larger bath towels. The 30 common area steps up to the flat were a bit dirty and a bit of an obstacle with a baby, stroller, car seat, and suitcases, but fine if you don't have much to bring. Neighbours with kids were loud.

the location to the race course and town was brilliant,

the smell grease, especially at night and the lighting in the hall way not always not working the beds, one maybe is only a queens size and the other was a low over hang and you catch you shin’s on it

Location. Very clean

The shower didn’t work. I messaged the host who said that it was working perfectly the week before however, the guest book completed by a previous person in the same week stated that the shower wasn’t working properly either. I don’t think this is acceptable as a working shower is essential in a rental. It did look tired and looked like it needed replacing. Although there was a bath as I have mobility issues this wasn’t easy getting in and out.

A lovely stay in Thirsk with friends

This was our second stay in Regent House, last time was just myself and my husband, this time some friends came too. It's a beautiful apartment and has improved since last time we stayed as the owners have listened to people's opinions and changed the blinds in the bedrooms for black out curtains. Also the wifi and TV worked better. The kitchen is well equipped although we couldn't find a bread knife or any sharp knives. The apartment is nicely decorated, with plenty of space and extra touches such as a welcome basket, games for kids and Netflix on the TV. Lovely, comfortable beds and perfect location, we will definitely return.

There was a problem with the hot water in the bathroom but I messaged the owner and she offered us a discount for the inconvenience caused should we book again.

Far too expensive

After my eleventh visit to the regent's house thirsk . I tried rebooking for a repeat visit in October for my wife's birthday. I was gobsmacked to see that the prices have almost doubled . Nice apartment but can't justify the new prices . That's us done unfortunately.

A blissful winter break in a warm, comfortable and homely flat in Thirsk.

Fabulous location just off the main market square, on main road but not bothered by road noise at all. Had some difficulty with the lock box for keys, that could probably do with replacing, but was well supported by the hosts by phone. Free parking space is a very short walk away so no problem. The flat was home from home, very comfortable and roomy, very good standard. I will be back! It's a lovely flat and the location is so good for touring in Yorkshire.

lovely flat in a great location, Sarah the host was very helpful and responded quickly to questions.

There’s a problem with the bathroom floor, shower has obviously been leaking and the floor is badly damaged, and needs attention.
