About this cottage rental

Welcome to our family's newly renovated beach cottage in North Pacific Beach! Our one bedroom cottage is right on the border of Pacific Beach and La Jolla so you will be in close proximity to both the night life in Pacific Beach and the laid back surfer style of Bird Rock. It's located 2 blocks from Tourmaline Beach and within walking distance of Law Street, the boardwalk and Mission Beaches. You really can't ask for a better location no matter what it is that your looking to do in the San Diego Beach area!

Our Beach cottage has one bedroom and is equipped with a king size bed and pull out twin bed for an extra guest. Please be aware that it sleeps 3 adults in beds, however we do allow 4 guests at one time for families with children. We can provide a blow up mattress and/or crib upon request, free of charge. Our cottage is perfect for a smaller family, romantic getaway or even parents visiting kids in one of the nearby colleges. It has a fully equipped kitchen, small dining area, separate living room, off-street/gated parking and a secluded backyard retreat. Why stay in a hotel when you can have your own private space as your home away from home?

We enjoyed our one week stay at the cottage. It was as pictured, clean and comfortable. The location was excellent - a short walk to the beach and numerous restaurants. Having a dedicated parking spot was a big plus as street parking is at a premium in the area. Stephany was great to deal with - we had a couple of issues over the weekend and she responded right away.

Great location. The French Gourment bakery & restaurant down the street was amazing. Beach 10min walk. Quiet and safe to walk around the neighborhood. The house parking was tight but worked and it's extremely important as finding a parking spot can be adventurous (seems to be San Diego parking culture).The house had everything we needed for home cooked meals and the backyard was relaxing and well kept up. Inside was comfy, clean and well kept up.

The place is super cute and great for a couple. We love the Fishery and kept going back there which is a two minute walk away. We had a rental car and had our own space behind the fence. Bikes are nice to have but we had an issue with one bike tire and it needed to be worked on. It was fixed next day but would have liked to cruise around more on bike. Glad we had rental car and we enjoyed going to La Jolla and Oceanside as well.We will come back!

The rental was clean and comfortable, close to beach, shops and restaurants. We parked our car at the start of our stay and didn't drive again until we left. The private parking area is an extra bonus. There is also a great backyard area for eating and just hanging out.

We loved staying at the PB Cottage. It’s a standalone unit with secure parking and a nice back patio space. The inside is perfect for a couple has everything you need for a long or short term stay. Easy walking access to the beach and lots of coffee and eating spots within a 5-10 min walk. Would highly recommend staying at Stephany’s place!

What a gem of a place, cannot say enough about it! Stocked with everything you could possibly need! Even beach chairs, umbrella, etc! Walk to beach, walk to amazing local cafes, grocery store! Very safe area, clean, well appointed!

Wonderful hosts! Stephany was a great communicator and very accommodating. The rental was clean and comfortable with a nice outdoor patio for morning coffee and dinner in the evening. Location couldn't be beat! Delicious tacos and coffee near by, walking distance to the beach. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while in San Diego. Thank you!

This was our second stay at Opal. It is a really great spot and we really enjoyed our stay! The house had everything we needed! Bed was more firm than we remembered. Didn’t sleep great this trip. We do recall there being lots of standing fans last time but this time only a space heater. Luckily the house was very cool and we only used the ceiling fans. Brita in the fridge was nice to have. There’s a drip coffee maker and a pod which is nice. Loved being able to stream movies at night. Warning, if you bring a dog ours could fit between the gate and house so if she wanted to she could run out into the alley way.

We had a very comfortable stay at this cottage tucked behind a house close to the beach. Our car was safely stashed behind the gate in front of the cottage and we felt safe and snug! The cottage is comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed. We ate out nearly all meals so we did not use the kitchen much but it had what we needed. The patio off the sliding glass doors was beautiful!!! I highly recommend this stay!

This property was small and private. Pros: The location was walking distance to everything we wanted to do - Mass at St Bridgets, great restaurants, Calumet Park, Tourmaline, the boardwalk. Being able to park (our small car) behind a closed gate was a bonus. Everything was clean and well maintained. We could even entertain our grandchildren in the small enclosed garden. Cons:The bedroom was cramped with a king-sized bed and there were no shelves or dresser for storing clothes, or even a place for a suitcase, which ended up in the livingroom.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. Great location just a block or so from ocean. As seniors, we didn’t come and go much but spent time enjoying the cool refreshing weather - a reprieve from the Arizona heat. Home is cozy and comfortable for two. Super great large private patio. Enclosed parking was a big plus. Stephany took immediate care of any issues we had. Would love to come again.

Loved this property! Nice living and outdoor area. We loved being able to sit outside on comfortable furniture. The house had few portable fans. Even without ac the place cooled down quite a bit - our baby monitor read a temperature of 68 at night. The bedroom could use some blackout curtains and new pillows but that’s all preference. It won’t stop us from staying there, we will just bring our own pillows next time. The bathroom was stocked with plenty of towels, soaps, shampoo, and conditioner. Bring your own hair dryer, I had to go buy one. Fantastic place for a little family. Can’t wait for our next trip.

The Opal House was a fabulous getaway for us this summer. This is the cleanest & has the nicest amenities of any vacation rental we’ve shared. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking meals in. Amenities included appliances, all cookware & utensils, a terrific barbecue grill on the patio, and lots of attention to small details. There was a welcome basket in the kitchen with coffee packets, with whitener & sweetener options & an assortment of breakfast bars. Linens, pillows & towels were provided in very good condition, and a welcome bucket in the bathroom was stocked with lotion, washcloths and sanitary products. There is no central air, but with the windows open and the ceiling fans going, the temperature was comfortable. They also provide extra fans for those who want, as well as a portable space heater should there be the need (there wasn’t). A single unit washer/dryer is located in a shed behind the house. Plenty of detergent & bleach - both worked with no problem. The outdoor patio is lovely & comfortable for eating a meal or just relaxing in a tropical space. There is a beach mat & umbrella, a couple of beach chairs and a bag of sand toys to enhance an afternoon by the ocean. The location is fabulous with easy access to Pacific Beach and LaJolla in just minutes. Stephanie & family we’re very responsive- we noticed the propane tank on the bbq was empty. I texted her and within 2 hours someone had installed a replacement tank. The cottage is the 3rd unit on this lot. The main house fronts to Opal St. A separate garage seems to be occupied in between. The cottage is accessed through the back alley and features one enclosed parking spot next to the front door, protected by a sliding gate to the alley. The neighborhood seems very safe, and given that this is a beach town in the summer, relatively quiet. Only drawback was that there is only 1 tv in the unit in the living room - there’s room & wiring for a second in the bedroom. This was only inconvenient because our teenager was sleeping on the pullout sofa and kept kicking us out to go to bed. LOL We would definitely try to stay here again and highly recommend it to others.
