Ganamapa

This is a lovely little bed and breakfast attached to the host’s own home. Plenty of parking on the driveway and shops within walking distance. We loved the fact that our children had a separate room (accessed via a little staircase) and we were downstairs. There are no other guests. All the beds were extremely comfortable. There is a kettle in the room. Luckily, the host spoke very good English (as our French is poor!) and she was very welcoming. It was extremely hot during our stay and when we asked for a fan for the upstairs room, she was able to provide one for us. The breakfast was delicious and delivered to our room on a quaint little breakfast trolley each morning! We were able to eat outside on the little patio area which was nice. Breakfast was the same each day (croissants, pain au chocolate, baguettes) cheese, ham, fruit, yoghurts, juice and coffee. Maybe a bit of variety would be nice sometimes but it was excellent quality and value for money and it allowed us to make up some baguettes for our lunch each day as well. The B&B is located in a quiet residential area. You can hear the nearby road when outside but not when you are inside the property. You are within walking distance of a restaurant but we were put off going there due to the reviews on their website so we did have to drive out to dinner each evening. You have to drive to the beach at Merlimont but it is worth it and parking was free. We would stay again.

It would be nice if the host could provide some information and recommendations about nearby restaurants that she would recommend. And maybe some leaflets about activities that you can do in the local area? Of course you can research all this yourself and we did, but sometimes it’s nice to know a bit of ‘inside information’ from someone who lives locally. The restaurants we ended up at were not exactly welcoming even though we tried our best to speak French to the staff. However, this is not a criticism of Ganamapa itself.

Breakfast was excellent. Veronique supplied exactly what we needed.

Nothing. Ganamapa was fine for the purpose of our visit.
