Guest House Douro

The welcome, the room and view of the Douro, the location and Louisa were all excellent.

The room was a little small but service, location and view more than made up for this.

The location was perfect and the view of the river was beautiful. The staff were outstanding & extremely helpful and accommodating.

A quiet convenient room in old town beside river. Great breakfast with delicious fruit, made to order eggs and good bread and coffee.

No menu for breakfast - just an verbal menu, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. The front desk staff service was very good. Super helpful and friendly. One person only and she was amazing - she did everything. Felt more like an Bed & Breakfast than hotel. Location was good near River. The tiny breakfast dining area serves great coffee and Port!

The staff was amazing and willing to help with the issues. Sadly though, some issues were not fixable such as River View with windows that open room was 4 feet away from neighboring restaurant's bar, so lots of noise, smoking, and not able to open the window and be safe. Maybe a higher floor would have been better for safety? You could literally shake hands with strangers from window. Beds were very, very firm. You can't take an Uber or Bolt to Hotel- only licensed Taxis can get close enough to hotel - luggage down/up the steep hill is a problem for older people. Way too much room freshener is used, so if you have allergies, let them know ahead of time not to use in room.
