The River House is an adorable place to stay right on the Roanoke River and Roanoke Green Way. Rent bikes 500 feet from the house, walk to downtown, float the river with tubes, kayaks, paddle boards, or canoe rentals available! So much to do in Roanoke and you are in the heart of it!

Close to the star is the Mill Mountain Zoo, where you'll see the endangered Snow Leopard, Amur Tiger and Red Wolf, along with 40-plus other animal species. The Center in the Square is the city's cultural hub, where you can catch a Broadway-quality show at the Mill Mountain Theater or hear the celebrated Roanoke Symphony. We traveled to Roanoke for Thanksgiving and had a wonderful stay. My mom was able to cook the whole Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen and I only needed to bring a few items that were not available (they arrived the day before me). A very well stocked kitchen! The house is very cozy and nicely decorated. I absolutely loved the basement room. It was so cozy and spacious. The beds were very comfortable. It is in a cute neighborhood that is close to everything (not walking distance unless you want to cross the large bridge but less than a 5 minute ride to the places we went) You can even see the star at night. Has a nice walking path behind the house and a large deck with a view of the river. I highly recommend staying here. James was a wonderful host and was responsive. Thank you for the great trip!

Where is the river??? Cannot see it from the property. Neighborhood is sketchy, homeless sleeping at corner. Power plant very near house. Good location, but street blocked at the end, so had to go around each time.House was very nicely furnished, but very small bathroom. Listing was not accurate.We were disappointed.
