Staying above the clouds

This place is amazing. Stagering views. Great food and hospitality. Excellent host. The sort of place only adventurers get to, no tourists. It is a full on adventure and experience just getting there. It is at 2050m. We felt we passed the last settlement in Chrisendom, passed the last house, took the last road and stayed in the last room. You MUST have a high ground clearence car to get here, you must have permission to drive a hire car through the Datvisjvari Pass, if the weather could be at all questionable (ie shoulder seasons), then a 4 Low equipped off roader is the only safe bet. The host took us horse back riding (he was bareback!), one of lives permenant memories. We stayed at one of the 2 trianguler shaped huts above the main messy complex, best place for sure but a 50m walk uphill with your luggage.

This place is off-grid - we had no problem with ample hot water despite lots of clouds as each accomodation has its own solar panel with water tank but if you're unlucky with the weather, think cold showers. Also no high power stuff, like hair dryers, as you would expect. We so enjoyed the drive there, so much to see, the best scenery we've ever seen, we crossed at least 10 fords some with torretial melt water pouring accross them, bulldozers and diggers are left sprinkled along the road and major repaired landslides were all over the place. Great getting there but on the way back we didn't stop, so almost 3 hours to civilisation when we saw just one moving car, more than half the time we didn't get out of 1st gear - a bruising journey. Been there, done it, won't do it again, but you must!

The staff were excellent, the price was great and the food was spectacular! They provided you with so much food, you definitely did not go hungry, but it is an additional cost. Bring cash

The drive to get there on the back dirt roads was hours long but the view that came with the location was beautiful. Also, they do not have AC or heat, but they provided you with warm blankets to comfortably sleep at night. Lastly, there really wasn’t hot water, but again that’s to be expected considering the location. Still a lovely place to visit.

Very good and tasty breakfasts and dinners. Nice atmosphere and spectacular location. Because of the long way requiring 4x4 driving, best to book 2 nights at least.
