The location is close to shinsekai, but out of the crowded area, the neighborhood feels much more authentic. The hostel itself is very nice, the staff were very kind and friendly, there was a garden and rooftop and the whole building was decorated warmly and cozy. I would definitely come here again if I ever get the chance

Kamagasaki University of the Arts / Cocoroom was honestly one of the most confusing hostel experiences I’ve had in Japan On one side, super friendly atmosphere,, very open-minded social café for the local neighborhood ,cute little garden in the back where you can actually relax with tea, wifi worked perfectly important when you work online. But then… welcome to karaoke downtown South Osaka chaos! The street outside was LOUD. Like… why is someone singing at 1AM with full emotional damage? The beds were also not exactly giving “deep spiritual sleep....More like “temporary survival mattress.” And the funniest part, the staff were sweet people, but almost nobody spoke English. Which made me wonder.. Why run a guesthouse with international travelers if communication becomes a full Zen puzzle? Still… there was something strangely authentic and human about the place. It didn’t feel commercial. More like stepping into an experimental social art project where nobody fully knows what’s happening including the guests. So my feelings are mixed. Acceptable but definitely memorable!

It’s a very arty place with painting everywhere and instruments that you can play. They offer free tasty tea. I needed to change my travel dates, so the very nice staff was able to accommodate my wishes without any extra charges. The location is quite cool: close to Shinsekai area. Showers were clean and nice. The shopping street right in front offers some cool stuff: bought 2 kimonos from a neighborhood store for a fair price.
The room was very warm at night. Plus human smell. There’s an AC available but was turned off at night. No conditioner in the showers.

it's a lovely place with lots of art but unfortunately some of the people working there don't make you feel welcomed.
i was reading in the shared space when someone from the staff just came inside and turned off the lights even though they say me sitting there 😅 that felt strange - i definitely would have turned off the lights when going to bed. this made me feel quite weird ...
