Beautiful Italian villa set on a hilltop

A fabulous Italian style villa set on a hillside just outside Hamilton. Quiet and peaceful with great views. We stayed in the "Suite with mountain view". It was spacious and luxurious. Other room looked much smaller but equal luxury. Note that some rooms had a shared bathroom.

Very disappointing.

The room was very small and hot (no air conditioning just a weak fan), the one channel TV wouldn't work after a hour, no facilities such as a hot water jug. The description online did not say that there was a large number steps both inside and out which were challenging with bags.The hostess doesn't answer any queries.

Such an unusual place surrounded by farm animals. We were looked after well by our lovely host. Shower pressure was fabulous!

Fabulous views, which are matched by your hosts!

I really felt that the hosts were very genuine! They took pride in what they did, they were very approachable, yet professional. You felt that this was their home, and they really wanted to share it with you!

Good stay

Beautiful home in countryside with ponies, cats, etc. Our room (RUA) was very large with large bath. Liked the separate toilet room.

Lots of stairs getting in and then many stairs to the 2nd floor where our room was. Our room had an air-conditioner and private bath. Most do not. They did not want us running the air or fans unless we were in the room due to high electrical costs.

Great place: interesting architecture, good room, good breakfast, if you like animals you'll enjoy petting cats/horses outside, very clean (shoes off). Nice owners.

Beautiful property 10 minutes from central Hamilton. Lovely countryside views. The family room was lovely; much nicer than the pictures. 1 double, 1 single in the big room and 1 single in a small room without windows. The beds were comfortable, Airconditioner available if needed. Lovely, toilet and bathroom. Lovely views by day and at sunset in the common dining room and living room. Easy parking. They have several farm animals outside the house and a friendly cat wandering around. Breakfast was ample. The owners were warm and friendly.

Would have been nice to have a fridge in the room. Otherwise, nothing else.

Great location with very friendly hosts. Quick drive to many different facilities nearby, ie food. Lovely little park just down the road. At the resort the kids were able to do some exploring and even feed some animals, they loved that. Super comfy beds. Great for kids.

Communication regarding the early check-in seemed have gotten lost. We were very early and I was very tired.

Good location for local activities and has amazing views and animals.

I liked the animals and surrounding views. Close to Hamilton and good location for doing the Waitomo caves and Hobbiton. 20 minute drive to Hamilton for dinner. Cooked breakfast was yummy. Free WiFi and access to Netflix on TV.

Cooked breakfast was a small portion size. Shared bathroom facilities. Small room but fine for what we needed it for.

Scenery was amazing.Room wad used by another guy an we were asked to used same were his clothes were in the dressing closet like left there. Even the kettle had half filled water. Balcony was full of dust and couldn’t get out due to dust and dirt. I am giving honest feedback for improvement

Enjoyed the in between location of our glowworms tour and Auckland and our very nice hosts.

Breakfast offered both cold ( yogurt, bread- toast too- and cereal) and cooked (eggs and bacon). Very fulfilling meal to start the day. Room was very spacious with a nice view of the animals and valley. Enjoyed talking with the owners.

Not a big concern but I meant to talk to Colleen about this before we left. We feel the spacious bathroom would be so much better with the addition of hanging hooks for clothes and towels and better lighting over the bathroom sink.

A wonderful place

Everything was great there, our hosts were very nice and sweet, especially given the situation: there was a bug with Booking, so our room wasn't booked. They offered a much better room for a small amount (added to the original price), which was incredible. The breakfast was delicious, and the little tour to see the alpaca, the horses and all was great too.

A very pleasant experience.

We found the Rua Resort to be a value for money experience. Situated in a commanding position, views from our balcony were outstanding. Colleen and her team made us feel very welcome and encouraged us to use the facilities of their home. Breakfast was a pleasant experience, enjoying the range of food on offer whilst spending time with other travellers exchanging experiences of our travels. We enjoyed our stay at Rua Resort and would recommend it to others.

Rural B&B stay with beautiful views and homey atmosphere

With “Resort” in the name, I was expecting a hotel-like experience. This was a B&B, with beautiful views and sweet farm animals to pet. I’m a horse person and I was delighted that the property has 4 miniature horses. The hosts made us feel like part of the family. We slept in the master bedroom which had beautiful views and a cute Harry Potter bedroom in one of the closets. The host also gave us an excellent suggestion for dinner in Hamilton (Furnace).

Colleen was amazing, loved her making time for our little boy, he loved his Harry Potter room. Suite was spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished. Bath was super deep, property was beautiful, breakfast was great, Colleen's scrambled eggs are a must do. Clive was lovely and chatty and the animals topped off our great stay. Would score Rua Resort more than 10/10 if possible

Lovely locatíon and house is great. Room was lovely and the breakfast superb..I worry about the relaxed attitude to Covid 19.

No QR code scanner, really surprised given this is a hospitality business. Owners are not Covid vaccinated, and have no intention of being vaccinated. A big concern.

Breathe taking scenery driving up to the resort, peaceful, fresh air, farm animals, nature and especially to get away from the city for a day. Hosts Colleen and Clive such grace and accomodating to our needs. To take the time to have small talks was nice. Facilities outstanding, our room was super cute with an amazing view from the balcony...WOW!!! and bed was very comfy. Open shower bathroom A++++ We would definitely come back again. Recommended 👍🏾
