Emmerich Hotel Görlitz

Great location, great design, comfortable beds and super nice staff! The breakfast is also outstanding.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Emmerich in Görlitz. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a place with real character and attention to detail. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, and filled with wonderful artwork and historical photographs that reflected the spirit of the building and the city. The combination of carefully preserved historic architecture with modern design is simply stunning. The bathroom was stylish, spacious, and very modern. The location couldn't be better—right in the heart of Görlitz, making it easy to explore the beautiful old town on foot. Breakfast was exceptional, with a generous buffet offering plenty of fresh choices. As someone who eats gluten-free, I especially appreciated the variety available, which made breakfast relaxed and enjoyable. Our only small suggestion would be to add a dedicated light above or around the bathroom mirror. It would make shaving or applying makeup much easier. Overall, Hotel Emmerich exceeded our expectations. Beautiful interiors, a perfect location, excellent breakfast, and a wonderful atmosphere made our stay memorable. We would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Görlitz.

The location of the hotel could not really be better and the setting and style of the building were beautiful. The position on the Untermarkt plaza is really pretty, with an array of nice little cafés and restaurants very close by. My impression of the room was initially great! The style and decor was nice, and the shower had great pressure and temperature. The bathroom was immaculately clean, too. Overall I liked the room, except for the bed (see negatives). The staff were largely friendly, especially in the bar and restaurant. The food was very good and the range of local beers was great. I felt the meal was reasonably priced for the quality.

The room had no integrated AC (it was up to 35 degrees during the day) and only a very noisy and ineffective standing fan that made it hard to sleep. The bed was extremely poor; the split twin style and post feet on a wooden floor meant that it constantly shifted around when trying to sit up in it or move around. Worst of all, the pillows were like half filled bags of sand and the duvet was an almost comically thin strip that was made up at 90 degrees to how one was clearly supposed to sleep in it. This meant that if you wanted it to have coverage along your whole length it was barely wide enough to cover you, or you could have it wide enough but half the length of your body! Just utterly bizarre and horribly uncomfortable! The breakfast was OK, but it was not made clear to me on check in that it was an additional charge, which, at 16 euros a day, I did not feel was good value. The coffee was bland and there was no hot food option at all. Finally, the WiFi quality was abysmal. I could barely connect to it at all, and when I did it kicked me off routinely and couldn't support even basic streaming usage. This made working very hard, and I often had to go out to use the 4G connection hotspot on my phone.
