Grand Hotel & Spa Tirana

After reading some negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel is clearly older, but there's a difference between old-fashioned charm and poor maintenance. Our room was spacious, clean and well maintained, with a wonderfully comfortable bed. The bathroom could use some updating, and there was a slight drain smell. The reception staff were friendly, and the location was excellent! Overall, a good one-night stay! I appreciate the hotel's traditional character and hope they preserve it. With just a few thoughtful improvements, this hotel could offer an even better experience.

Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. The selection was limited, and food was arranged in surprisingly tiny portions. For example, just six thin slices of sausage were arranged decoratively on one platter. With around seven guests arriving for breakfast at the same time, they disappeared almost immediately. Perhaps the intention was to reduce waste or maintain freshness, but more generous portions and regular replenishment would better suit the hotel's image. The road construction outside may cause noise in the mornings, so requesting a room away from the street might be wise. More concerning was the pedestrian access: metal grating made the entrance difficult to reach safely, and we witnessed a man trip quite badly. Thankfully, he wasn't injured. In Finland, construction sites must provide safe pedestrian access, and I hope the responsible contractor can improve this here too. These are mostly small, fixable issues, and addressing them could significantly improve the guest experience.
