Gokayama Onsen Akaokan

Beautiful Japanese breakfast and dinner served in private dinning room. Lovely traditional building with friendly staff.

The food was amazing, we had the traditional dinner and lunch included in the experience and this was one of the main highlight, the food was abundant and really delicious! The host were super nice and they even brought us by car to the close city to visit the traditional Japanese houses. We slept on a Futon, and despite the fact that we are not used to it, it was not that uncomfortable and still an amazing experience. The location is in the middle of the whole UNESCO world heritage area, you can reach all the other place easily via car or bus, and furthermore in front of our hotel there’s the biggest Gassho houses of the whole Japan. Definitely to visit. The place is a bit rustic of course but really a great experience for the money you spend.

It’s not that we didn’t like - because we knew it was part of the overall experience. But sleeping was not easy on the floor .
