YHA London St Paul's

Location, just a few steps from St. Paul's Cathedral and Millennium Bridge, is very good. The hostel itself is located in a typical London townhouse that is slowly starting to need renovation. Despite this, the hostel is well-maintained and clean. The room was spacious enough, the beds were quite comfortable, the fan came in handy during the warm days, and several power outlets allowed for charging multiple devices at once. The number of toilets and showers is also sufficient.

Naturally, my expectations were in line with the standard of the property. The only significant downside was the slamming doors—both the ones leading to the upper floor and the room doors. Unfortunately, this disturbs a peaceful night's sleep.

The best thing about YHA St Paul’s is its location. You are bang in the middle of the city and everything is either walkable or just a short tube or bus ride. Whilst it represents excellent value, the amenities are pretty basic. Shared bathroom/toilet and pay for any extras such as towels or breakfast. Also, there is no aircon or refrigerators available, however Tesco Express is 2 minute walk away where you can pickup food-to-go. Would happily stay here again as it really is a top location at a fantastic price.

2 polite feed-backs: - the drainage in the shower in the women’s dorm: no drainage for the water to drain, the water just piled up. I know it is an old building, but it is very important to solve this problem, when 8 guests supposed to use it. - the cold drinking water: It is a basic requirement, especially in a hot weather. I did not have any other need (breakfast/dinner), but I needed hot water every morning to make my own cup of tea. Which I am very thankful I could do, from the dispensing machine. But there was no cold water option in that machine. The “cold” taps at the “filling station” were ok, but not very cold either, and one evening literally only warm ( ot hot, but quite warm) water came out. Even when tried to run it longer, to try to get it colder, nothing changed. The tap-water in the bedrooms were also not really cold, and not the very best option to drink. (especially when it “cuts off” after every few seconds) I politely suggest to even to get a machine with the very cold water, (just like the warm one), or providing a “Clear Water” machine with the replaceable units. Thank you very much anyway for Staff who tried to help me. I am sure these issues can be solved very easily. :)

Location was good, clean bathrooms, comfy beds.

There was mold on some of our sheets, and it was humid in our room, so that might be why, but the staff accommodated us by giving us new sheets and offering breakfast.
