I'm glad I chose this hotel

Excellent hotel, we were very pleased with our stay. The location is very good, close to the beach, there are wonderful taverns and a street with shops nearby. The hotel staff is very friendly and positive, they were always happy to help us with any questions. The rooms, the hotel grounds and the pool are very clean. The bed linen and towels were clean and the mattresses on the beds were quite comfortable. We slept almost like at home. Special thanks to the hotel chefs - the food was very tasty and varied.

The only thing that made us uncomfortable was the very small showers, which were not completely closed by a glass partition. Because of this, water spilled all over the bathroom and had to be wiped off the floor every time.

Wonderful and memorable stay

Everything. Amazing, family like atmosphere in the hotel. Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. Great thanks to Pandelis for wonderful evenings spent at the bar. The hotel is very cosy and quiet, with not a lot of people. The family suite we had was fantastic, well furnished, very spacious and the bedrooms were spacious as well. We loved the fact that the baby crib was complimentary and what was more important it had a thick, comfortable mattress - our son loved sleeping there (which never happened for us in other hotels). A little detail but it was fantastic that the air conditioners in bedrooms were positioned in such spot that we could use it during the night and the cold air was not blowing at us in bed. 2 pools available, at the hotel and just next to the hotel. The swimming pool at the hotel had a shallow part for kids which our son loved. Hotel situated just by the beach. Very nice restaurant literally in front of the entrance. Free parking included. Lots of shops around, including grocery shops.

There was times when the cleaning staff made our beds but not cleaned the floor properly.

Great family run hotel

Off the main street, down a short lane to the beach, the Trefon is in a quiet and very picturesque location. Bteakfasts are very good. Comfortable, clean rooms. The hotel is opposite an excellent family run taverna, Finikas. The hotel has a lovely pool and bar area and guests also have access to Barmmos, a larger pool and cafe. The beach is beyond. The hotel is located in a quiet street off the main street where you can find lots of bars, restaurants and a shops

Room for improvement

View from balcony and location.Nice having front facing balcony on each bedroom. Communal areas very nice, pool area small though.

Bathroom was awful, in need of an upgrade (see photos). Although cleaner came in every day, bathroom sink wasn't cleaned, hair poking through drain on floor (not mine!) No natural light in living/kitchen area so never sat there. Camping - type stove on bunker, no toaster, just toastie machine. Dirty glass in cupboard.Just felt as if everything had a grubby feeling.

Outstanding!!

All the facilities worked perfectly. Bed was really comfortable. Shower- always hot water and powerful, Cleaning at an extremely high standard. Service impeccable. Food is lovely, The location is perfect, VERY quiet dispute being so close to the main town ( 2 mins walk) and all the bars/tavernas and shops. Also just steps away from the wonderful beach. While we were there we had 2 Sahara sand drops and wow, the cleaning they had to do, but they are like a well oiled machine! The earthquakes were a little scary but we were all reassured and all was absolutely fine. It’s quite normal for Crete. The staff are efficient and soo helpful, nothing and I mean NOTHING was too much trouble!! My husband was taken seriously ill and was in the hospital for 4 days, including the ICU. I was only allowed to visit him for 30 minutes a day so was by myself and scared. The receptionist, Virginia, went way above and beyond, contacting the hospital for me and being my Greek voice, The owner - Mr Trefon was so caring and considerate checking if I was ok. Maria - the most marvellous cook , gave me hugs and made me laugh and also made sure I ate something!! Gerta and Bastalis on the bar- thank you for your company and the chats and music. To everyone, Vangelis- the manager, George, wonderful man, at this wonderful hotel- thank you from us both,Teresa and Jon x x

Nice stay

Room is spacious and clean. Though running up and down the stairs is a bit tiring. Location is great, next to the sea, quiet, but also close to the street with restaurants and shops. Delicious breakfast and very friendly staff. Reasonable value for money.

Exceptional

We were very happy to stay in this hotel. It was super clean. The staff was very welcoming and all facilities were cosy and clean. The breakfast was perfect, tasty and with big variety of products. Since we left early in the morning, we received takeaway breakfast and it was also great. The hotel is located very close to the sea beach, possibly 100 meters. The kitchen is well equipped with absolutely all kitchenware you may need for cooking. In conclusion, we had an amazing stay and happy to recommend it.

Trefon is a nice location but has a few kinks to make it a repeat stay for us.

The hotel was well located, close to the beach and just a short 2-3 minute walk to the main street which had plenty of restaurants and shops.

The WIFI was bad. Could not get on phones whatsoever. The pictures on Booking.com showed a beautiful pool with bar all lit up and inviting, unfortunately the pool closed at 7:00pm and the drinks at the bar were a bit on the high side. Breakfast was ok but started a little late for our taste. We drove to various beaches during our stay and were hoping to get an early start but ended up heading out later due to breakfast. Also, we had an early flight and asked if we could get To Go coffees for the drive and we were told it would be impossible. Something so easy and yet the staff member couldnt help out.

Superb

Great location, near to the sea and tavern with very good food. Two swimming pool, one directly through the hotel, second on the beach. Breakfast was very tasty. Room maybe was not very modern, but clean and comfortable. It was lovely time ☺️

The appartment was large, with a great room for the parents. The breakfast was exceptional, really great. It’s great if you need an appartment in the summer. Very nice guy at the reception.

The doors lock behind you, so you have to be careful about the key. The pool area is a bit small.

Cozy and relaxed stay, close to beautiful Retymno but far enough of the noise

Set very close to Rethymno but far enough to give you the peace of sound. The hotel is 50 m from the beach and as a quest you can benefit of the swimming pool and beach bar right on the beach. Decent restaurants and grocery store nearby.

the kitchenette in the room had no cutlery or small pan, neither soap or sponge to wash the dishes…and the 3 glasses in the room were 3 different types😁 didn’t really bothered our stay

Exceptional

Trefon is a great place for many reasons. It is close to the beach, there is a supermarket at the end of the street (and more shops a little bit far) and the bus stop is only 5 minutes away. It also has its own parking. The room was super, with a comfortable bed, kitchenette (fridge, hob, cutlery, crockery, water boiler, coffee maker), a small terrace, bean bag chair. Cot and high chair provided for small children. Daily cleaning, towels changed every two days. The breakfast is delicious, different every day and there's always a Greek/Cretan delicacy. Vegetables are grown in the hotel garden. The pool is not very big but nice and clean, the sun beds are comfortable. The hotel is very ni, tastefully decorated. The staff are very nice, helpful and friendly.

The cupboard was a bit smelly. In the bathroom we could'nt close the window, which was not so comfortable at the end of October. These were little things, what were didn't influence our lovely holiday in fact.

Location was great, close to the beach and village with very nice restaurants. Teh staff werevery friendly and helpful and did so much for their guests - this is what makes the stay and great experience.

Wonderful, amazing experience

I could write a novel on this topic, but I'll try to keep it short. Amazing breakfast, amazing staff, cozy room with all you can need on a vacation. When you enter the hotel, the first thing you feel is the amazing smell. I have no idea where it came from, but it was so nice. The bar at the pool offers delicious snack food and cocktails. It's close to everything, restaurants, shops, a supermarket, and the beach. No free sunbeds at the beach, but there is a bar offering a free pool, and the sunbed set costs only 6 euros. Don't expect luxury at this hotel, just a warm welcome, smiling staff faces, and a great feeling. I felt like I'm visiting friends or relatives, not like I stayed at a hotel.

As much as I'm trying I can't think of anything. Everything was perfect.

Apartment was smaller than I have payed for - Superior Two-Bedroom Apartment - Split-level. In the description was: 70m2, washing mashine, Seating Area, sofa, Additional bathroom,.. No sofa, no washing machine, no Seating Area, only one shower and smaller than 70m2 and some others NO! Parking view instead of Garden view! Maximum capacity 5 adults - ONLY 4 sleeping places. Dissapointed.

super kids friendly family hotel

This was our first travel with a small baby (11m) and it exceeded our expectations: baby bed and baby chair, room cleaned everyday for the baby to safely crawl there, good breakfast, 3 minutes to the beach. also we forgot to bring mosquito net with us, so hotel took extra measures to additionally do anti-mosquito care for surrounding our balcony trees. you can also get dinner in the hotel, or order take away in a nearby restaurants (plenty of them);

Superb

Great location, close to the beach and lots of nice restaurants in the area. Finikas taverna just across the street is lovely. The pool at the hotel is quite small but there is a second pool by the beach which has a bar that serves really nice food all day. The bar staff there are so friendly and welcoming. Comfy beds and clean apartments, and the breakfast every morning is delicious.

No air con in the twin bedroom so it gets pretty hot in there, a ceiling fan would help. Also the shower drainage, it would be handy if there was a mop and bucket provided to clean it up. They're only small issues that in no way took from our enjoyment of our holiday.

the staff was so lovely and the facilities were great for us and our two kids

the bathroom shower didn’t drain properly, so the floor was always wet. it would be nice to put a squeegee in the bathroom or to have a better drain system

Exceptional

This is our second visit to the Trefon and hopefully will be followed by many more as it is in a perfect location with great facilities. There is a lovely taverna opposite which due to the lateness of the season sadly was closed this time but we will visit there the next time we go back to Trefon. There are many nice places to walk to around the hotel also and the sea is just to the side all in all a fantastic place with great staff, looking forward to our next visit already
