Don't let the word "Hostal" put you off, this is anything but. The room, overlooking La Rambla was modern, comfy, clean and amply for everything we needed. The private bathroom was perfect, amenities provided including hairdryer and toothbrush/paste. Better than some hotels I have stayed at. The bed was very comfortable and the location was very central and perfect for reaching the majority of attractions, beach, gothic quarter, la Rambla and Passeig de Gracia. The metro is also pretty much on the doorstep.
Neither of these bothered me but just for transparency, being a hostel there is nothing the way of shared facilities like a bar, restaurant etc, but a world of entertainment and eateries are right outside your door. Also because of the location, it can be a little noisy in the early hours but we expected that and it wasn't so much that it impacted my comfort. I wouldn't let either of these put me off but it might some.

Near everything.
Too loud. We cant sleep. You can hear the noise from the streets, the other rooms, the bars. The room cant cancel the noise outside.
