About this cottage rental
A peaceful retreat for self-catering guests who want to get to know the region and its people.
This detached house was lovingly renovated in 2010.
The floors are dark hardwood; the 8-square-meter bathroom, featuring a modern shower, tub, and two sinks, has slate tiles (towel warmer).
The living room and bedroom are heated by a pellet stove. All other rooms have electric heating.
From the bed in the 15-square-meter bedroom, you can enjoy the view of the hills across the way.
The view from the 34-square-meter living room is just as beautiful; it features a fully equipped kitchenette, a dining table, and a cozy seating and TV area. Here you can wind down the day in peace after an exciting outing.
From the house, you can access the covered terrace through the back door.
At the bar located there, you can wonderfully enjoy the sunset in the mountains with a glass of wine and a tapa.
Another sleeping option: the 20-square-meter pool house with 1 double bed and a modern bathroom with a shower.
Please note: Can ONLY be booked as an extra for groups of more than 2 guests AND is subject to a higher cost.
FACILITIES: House Gecko is located about 600 meters up in the mountains, a 20-minute drive from Las Palmas, making it a great starting point for hikes and island excursions.
The town of Santa Brígida, with shopping and restaurants, is just a 5-minute drive away.
On Friday afternoons and Saturdays, a small farmers’ market takes place in the center of town. It offers many local products, such as island cheese, wine, olive oil, and honey.
The town of San Mateo is a 10-minute drive away, where you can also shop on Sundays until 2:00 p.m.
It takes 40 minutes to reach the famous beaches in the south of the island. A visit to Europe’s largest dune at Maspalomas Beach is definitely just as recommended as a trip to the romantic fishing port of Mogan or exploring various mountain villages.
DIRECTIONS: From Las Palmas Airport, take the AB GC-1 toward Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Keep left and continue on the AB GC-3 up into the mountains.
Then turn toward Tafira onto the AB GC-4.
The AB ends at a roundabout.
At the roundabout, take the second exit toward La Atalaya/Santa Brígida and continue on the GC-15.
Follow the winding road.
Pass a BP gas station and drive over the "barranco Santa Brígida."
Then turn right toward Pino Santo. (GC-151)
Follow the road for 1 km. Immediately after the 1 km milestone, behind the long white wall, you’ll find No. 45 on the left. Drive up the driveway there and through a black iron gate onto the property.

The small POOLHOUSE is available ONLY for groups of 2 or more people and is subject to an additional fee: It features a small French bed (135x195), a pull-out sleeper chair (85x195), and a bathroom (large shower).

Wow, what a fantastic property! The pool was the main attraction for us and it didn't disappoint! Deep, cool, large, beautiful setting in a well kept garden and views across to the other side of the valley. The house itself is the best equipped villa we've stayed at, there's nothing you'd want or need that isn't supplied and everything is maintained to a high standard. Plenty of hot water for showers, comfy bed, many thoughtful touches. The hosts are kind, helpful and available and genuinely care that you enjoy your stay. And the pool, did I mention the pool?!! Oh my. Thank you very much Matthias and Helena

I usually don’t write reviews but this time I’ll make an exception. There’s a lot of good things to say about this little house (see the other reviews) but there’s also some things that’s useful to know for future guests:
The text mentions and the pictures (19-24) show the so called pool house with a double bed. If you book the house for 2 people, you will not get access to this separate building. It comes with an extra cost. Nice to know, if you are not a couple or for other reasons want to sleep separately.
Even with the entire hood of the car ON the road, you can’t see anything from inside the car when you exit the property. It’s mandatory to have a person on the road helping you to exit down the steep road. Not for the faint hearted!
The pool was (as other reviewers mention) very cold. We visited in the end of January and hoped for a little dip … but no. It was dirty and it looked like a chlorine lock was happening in the water: milky/hazy water.
The pellet oven needs some attention and planning during your stay and still it will not heat the house evenly through the rooms. It is hard to reach the exact temperature you wish for as the thermostat is somehow living it’s own life.
