About this villa rental
Escola Velha is in an ideal position for relaxing holidays. It is located in a quiet lane just off the coast road in Vale de Parra and is close to the beaches, golf, restaurants, Albufeira Marina and Algarve Shopping.
As it was once the village school, it has great Portuguese charm with thick whitewashed walls and typical high cane ceilings which keeps the house cool in the summer months.
It has been extensively renovated (with a new fully equipped kitchen), keeping original features, combined with some surprising creativity. Escola Velha offers spacious accommodation, great character and comfort both inside and outside. It really is one of the most charming villas in our portfolio!
There are several spacious terraces with outdoor furniture around the house and sunbathing areas with views over the surrounding countryside.
There is also a petanque court (boules provided) and a barbecue. There is ample shaded parking under the olive trees.
The swimming pool has a child friendly pool cover which keeps the pool warmer than usual. The cover can be used when the pool is not in use giving parents peace of mind. The pool also has a new cleaning system which makes the water much kinder for anyone with allergies.
There is a restaurant just a short walk from the villa which is lovely and they will always be particularly happy to welcome guests of Escola Velha!

We had a great stay at the villa, everyone loved it, it had all the facilities we needed for a week, was a beautiful location and we struggled to leave it. The property managers were also extremely friendly and helpful! 10/10

This villa is a stunning property, with everything you could need. The attention to detail of decor and coordination of colour scheme throughout out made it a tranquil, calming place to stay. Home from home. The cleaner and her husband who maintain the villa were so lovely and helpful, regularly checking we had everything we needed, changing bedding/towels but informed us when they were doing this so no issues with privacy.
Surrounding area was pleasant, you need a car, beaches are short drive away, then just carry on up the coast to explore whichever beach is your preference.
Near to the villa is a lovely restaurant and a tapas place. A couple of petrol stations that sell essentials are 3 mins walk away, then you have Aldi close drive away 5 mins. The large Algarve shopping centre is 10 minute drive away which I found quite cheap and addictive to pick up a bargain. They have a massive supermarket their too.
To be honest this was my first trip to Portugal and loved it, loved the people, the place. This won’t be my only visit.
I almost don’t want to do a review of this villa as don’t want this little gem booked up when I try to go again. But fairs fair it was a delightful stay, plus the pool was the icing in the cake 🍰.
