    I stayed at Butuan Grand Palace and found the hotel to be decent despite its age. The property is well-maintained and, unlike many older hotels, it doesn't have that musty smell. The breakfast was also good, with a satisfying selection. Unfortunately, my experience at check-in was disappointing. I arrived a little early after a long trip and politely asked if an early check-in was possible. I completely understand that hotels have policies, and I would have accepted a simple "no" if a room wasn't available. However, the front desk staff (woman) wearing braces responded in a very rude and dismissive manner, making me feel as though I was asking for an unreasonable favor rather than making a courteous request. I've stayed in many 4-star and 5-star hotels, and this was one of the least welcoming check-in experiences I've had. A guest's first impression starts at the front desk, and unfortunately, this interaction made the hotel feel far below the standard it otherwise offers. I hope management addresses this through additional customer service training. The hotel itself has potential, but the attitude of the check-in staff significantly affected my overall experience.
