Colosseo Holiday House

We were completely enchanted by Colosseo Holiday House. From the street you get a glimpse of the Colosseum before you enter the building through imposing double wooden doors, then an antique elevator transports you to the charming apartment on the fourth floor. The older style features and eclectic decor give the impression the Roman resident has just popped out and might be back at any moment. This may not be to everyone's taste, the older style apartment has its quirks, but if you want to experince what it might feel like to live in Rome rather than what it feels like to stay at a hotel in Rome then this is the place for you. Although Via Labicana is a busy street, the apartment is at the rear of the building so is peaceful and quiet (though the church bells start ringing every 15 minutes before 7am so if you are a light sleeper and want a sleep in pack some ear plugs!). The balcony off the bedrooms was a lovely spot to start the morning. The location was great. The Carrefore supermarket across the road was very convenient. We loved eating at Trattoria Luzzi a block or two away, it was a reasonable walk to Monti and of course the Colosseum, an 18 Euro taxi to Vatican City and 9 Euro taxi to Trastevere. The kitchen and bathroom were compact but sufficient, though we were unable to get the oven to work, and the washing machine and laundry detergent were appreciated.

All of the beds and the day bed in the living room could benefit from some newer, plumper pillows/cushions.

Nous avons aimé du fait que l’arrivée et le départ soient autonomes. Il y avait de la climatisation dans les chambres, deux ventilateurs dans le séjour. La literie était bien blanche et propre. La cuisine équipée ce qui nous a bien aidé car nos enfants mange beaucoup du fait maison. Nous allions aux Colisée et jusqu’au centre ville à pieds. Il y avait un petit supermarché quasiment en face qui nous a bien dépanné.

Etant plutôt très dans du moderne, au début, nous n’avons pas beaucoup aimé la décoratrice trop de livres) et le ménage qui n’était pas vraiment bien fait…

We received a message from Jamie with all the information we needed. In fact we had videos to help us locate the apartment! It was easy.

Communication was spotty. When he was responding it was great, but big gaps in communication.

Cleanliness was missing. No hand soap in the bathroom and everything from the dishes to the bathroom were a bit dirty.
