Apartment in the Heart of Durbuy

Excellent location. Right in the middle of downtown, the street looks like a fairytale, and you're right next to the anticlinal rock and on the same street of the beautiful historic eglise saint-nicoles. The apartment was so lovely and you can also see the rock if you open the living room window and look to the right. We did not come with kids but noticed there’s also a whole set of toys which is very handy if you’re coming as a family.

We were unlucky to arrive right in the middle of a heatwave, with daytime temperatures in the city reaching 38°C and still around 25°C at 11pm. Because all the bedrooms were located in the attic, the indoor temperature felt like around 30°C during the night. We kept the windows and blinds closed during the day as instructed, but this didn’t make a noticeable difference. There was a clear contrast between the comfortable temperature in the downstairs living area and the heat upstairs. Despite using three fans and a portable cooling unit, it still didn’t help. I even tried adding frozen water to the cooling machine, but it didn’t lower the room temperature. I used AI to help figure out the best way to position and use the available tools (fans, cooler with ice water, and wet towels). Eventually, I was able to sleep after a few hours, but my family wasn’t able to sleep at all that night. The fan that had a water-cooling function was very dusty, so we had to open it and clean it ourselves before using it. The instructions for accessing the keys were also not very clear. It only said: “in a small grey/black key box located behind a metallic grey electrical cabinet, immediately to the left as you enter the parking area.” There were about six boxes matching this description, so we had to try them one by one. Parking was also very limited, and you had to be lucky to find a spot at the property itself or otherwise pay for parking in Durbuy. Additionally, there was a car blocking multiple parking spaces, and when we tried calling the number listed for weekend support, it was turned off. It’s worth noting that property owners can take several hours to respond to messages, or sometimes may not respond at all, and Booking.com customer support via live chat can also be slow (it took around five hours to get a response in our case). Finally, there were no toiletries provided, such as shampoo or conditioner.

Property itself was good, had good facilities. Nice and clean, wifi available. Great location.

Really struggled to find the actual apartment, and was unable to find staff, and unable to contact anyone during that time. Was able to get into contact with someone the following day. Had an email with the code for the key for the apartment; however no information about where the key safe was, where to find the door for the apartment or the apartment number.
