Beautiful stay, well equipped.

Beautiful view and convenient location. Paid parking across the street. Market 3 min walk away. Kitchen was well staffed. Shower had great pressure and temperature control. Convenient room set up.

Beds were quite uncomfortable. Need to walk outside up and down stairs to get from room to reception/common areas. Normally fine, but not ideal in cold, dark, rain.

The location is central, 2 mins to the viewpoint and coop, the reception gentleman was a gem, polite, and kind, the room was neat and clean, the toilet was clean and the shower was powerful and hot water was consistent. The checkout process was smooth too - remember to take off your bedding prior to checkout. The value for money is high, but it was the cheapest all over the isle. Overall, positive experience.

Some guests were quite noisy late at night, slamming doors, talking on their phones until midnight.

This was favourite hostel during my trip . Clean , nice staff , great location.

Maybe the only real negative is during certain times. There isn’t anyone to ask in terms of staff to ask questions during certain times as it was quiet and winter I suppose.

Absolutely fantastic kitchen, with loads of space. A real warm communal area that had a great view. Showers were good, powerful and hot, and the whole atmosphere was really friendly.

Absolutely amazing location in Portree, right on the beach with a great picture window and comfy lounge, good kitchen facilities and I totally recommend the delicious budget friendly breakfast. Rooms were nice and warm and plenty of bed linen.

lots of hostels have privacy curtains around each bunk , a game changer when your are sharing a room. they can even be provided for top bunk huge from ceiling.

Great location, great value, great stay!!

The Portree Youth Hostel is a great place for a good nights rest while traveling through Skye. It's a great value and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean room on a budget! We had a private, twin room and it was perfect for us. We plan on returning to Scotland next year with a small group and will try to stay here again while on Skye!

As with most hostels, because most guests are younger, they can be a little more noisy than other places. Usually, however, even the younger folks start winding down before it gets too late so it's not usually a deal breaker. Just keep that in mind when booking hostels.

Nice friendly staff, great share kitchen with lots of fridge space, nice rooms with small but good bathrooms and showers. Public paid parking just across the street with 24 hr parking available. Room was up stairs and outside from main building

Surprisingly nice room with a seaview

The room has a sea view with a good sized toilet. Location is good and near co-op superstore and town center. The room has good ventilation as there are windows on both ends of the room Available laundry service and full shared kitchen facility.

Location was great and very close to town square, but the common room had a nice view of the shore. Room for 4 women had two sets of bunk beds. They were fine but room was fairly small ... not much space to put your suitcase, etc. Common areas were great ... kitchen, bathrooms, dining area, sitting area. Just what you would hope for in a hostel situation.

Only thing that would have made it a bit better would have been a bit more space in the bunk room.

The location war really good. The city centre in near the hostel. Right across the street there is a really big public parking. Rooms are nice, we stayed in a room with two bunk beds and a bathroom. Kitchen has all the facilities.

Comfortable Hostel in an excellent location with a lovely view.

My family of four was there to hike the Sky Trail over the next four days, we had a nice, comfortable private group room and private bathroom. This was a lovely hostel with extremely helpful staff, a beautiful view, and close to everything that’s important to a family of hikers… The Co-Op grocery store for some food for the hike, the Inside Out outdoor store for some fuel to cook our dry meals and a rain jacket. :-) Love the super convenient location, there is also an excellent pub and restaurant right around the corner that had live music and a beautiful mural on the wall of the Black Cullen mountains, I can’t remember the name of this pub, but seek it out! The food was excellent here as well as the drinks. I wish I could remember the name of the young lady at the front desk with the long blonde hair who helped us find a ride to the northern end of the trail. When we learn the buses would not be running that day. She was wonderful!

What didn’t I like? I guess it would be that the breakfast selections were rather sparse compared to some other places. You could select something to eat and drink for only 5 pounds, which was nice, but I couldn’t find much… A few cereal selections (and one of these was rather cemented together after time and some moisture had apparently made its way in), some juice and milk, black tea bags. Unless there was another refrigerator of options somewhere that I just didn’t find. So if you’re visiting the co-op the night before, maybe get yourself a couple of breakfast items. :-)

Not for me

Location is good as it is at the city centre of Portree. My room is with ensuite bathroom. There is kettle in my room. I have breakfast in the hostel, they serve basic continental breakfast, the view in the common room is good.

I know this is a hostel but I did not expect the room is so tiny, the tv is very small, the table and chair are too small that barely functional. The sink is too small, causing water to splash onto the floor. You have to climb a few staircase to the room. You need to remove all bed sheets, pillow case and quilt cover etc and put them in designated area before check out. This is the first time I stayed in hostel, may be these all are the norms but just not for me. The photos of room in its profile are not quite the same to the one I stayed. No car park but there is a pay and display car park across the road, and this is well aware of before I booked this room.

Location is great, within walking distance to the village square (shops, restaurant), and about middle of Isle of Skye for exploration to both north and south area. The kitchen is very well equipped and clean. Guests help to keep the kitchen clean by washing up and drying the cutlery and kitchen utensils. Sufficient dining space for guests and a cosy lounge to chill with a great view.

Need to bring our luggages up flights of stairs to our room. We overcome by unloading our luggages at the street level instead.

The four bed room was very comfortable, with its own bathroom. Location was excellent and staff friendly.

Noise began at 5 am from rooms above, like a herd of elephants, and went on for over an hour. To the point I went up and asked the guests to have more consideration.

fine for a short while, bit pricy for what you’re getting

the location is great. from the frontside you have this amazing view over Loch Portree and the mountains & from the backside you easily leave for the Main Street with a few nice pubs and restaurants.

we were sleeping in a private double bedroom with our own bathroom. the bed is too small, with head- and footboards limiting your ability to put your feet out in case you’re tall (we’re Dutch, we’re both tall) and it’s not wide enough to lay in it a bit more diagonally. the mattress feels old, with bumps in it. quite uncomfortable, didn’t sleep that well… the water power of the shower is great, however the door didn’t close properly, so the entire bathroom floor was a huge puddle that we couldn’t really clean.
