We were visiting for a wedding. Accidentally we were right opposite the venue so could not be better placed. The apartment was spotless and had everything and more that we needed. Beautiful views from balcony and perfect outdoor space. Only downside was we were not there long enough to appreciate it.

Only negative was all the stairs to get to the apartment but what do you expect being on the side of that beautiful lake.

The apartment was spacious. Kitchen utensils were good and the place was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The balcony was small but with a fantastic view!

Large modern apartment but if internet access is needed during your stay, look elsewhere

Large size apartment, rooms were big and clean, water bottles in the refrigerator, close to downtown Varenna (2-5 minute walk), generally quiet, nice balcony, automatic window security shutters, modern AC system. Located across the street from the botanical gardens and lake.

Host was curt and not particularly friendly. During our meeting inside the apartment to hand over the keys, she ignored our request to wear a mask even though she clearly understood what we were saying. One of the beds did not have sheets, but our request to remedy this was unanswered. Although this apartment has wireless internet access, it is completely useless due to its slow speed. The wireless internet router (Webpocket) utilizes the local cellular network's tower to establish a connection to the internet. Unfortunately, the 4G LTE signal from this local tower is very weak inside the apartment building, which slows the outgoing network speed to a crawl. In order to confirm our flight reservations and COVID-19 test results online, we had to walk to downtown Varenna. Key is needed to unlock the door from the inside. This means that guests can could be potentially be locked inside the room if they lose the key.

Great location

The location is really handy. There's a very small beach area 2 minutes away if you fancy a swim. Nice restaurants are between 5-10 minutes walk away. The train station and ferry are also very close, about 15 minutes walk away. The apartment was much bigger than we expected. It was only two of us, but you could easily have at least four people stay. Varenna was a nice, quiet base to explore Lake Como.

The apartment is in a residential building. The only downside to renting an apartment is that there is no hotel staff to help with directions/advice. However, the information centre is right next door and you can leave your bag there.
