Villa Kayu Lama

The massage was perfect, the food is amazing, the staff is superfriendly.

The pool was not open all night.

The property is in a lovely location- it’s out of the city centre so it’s peaceful- be mindful that depending on traffic, it can take at least 30 mins to get into Ubud city centre. There is a free shuttle (van) that can drop off and pick you up from Ubud City Centre- the drop-off location is about 1km from the centre, but it is walkable or you can get a Gojek/Grab to another location. Note, it runs three times a day, but Grab/Gojek are readily available if wanting to go at other times. The villa is very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I had my own private pool and mini kitchen area (no appliances or cutlery, but it was nice to have breakfast there in the morning). There were bottles of water included in the room and they were replenished each day. There are several breakfast options and the staff were very accommodating when asking for modifications. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming.

The property is showing its age- some of the wooden floorboards/bathroom vanity drawers could do with a varnish and some of the floorboards in the bathroom were loose and would move when walking over them. There are also a lot of insects and mosquitoes- it’s an indoor/outdoor bathroom (bathroom is undercover but is outside) which means that when opening the bathroom door these insects can get inside your room. I also went into the cupboard to hang up some clothing and several mosquitoes flew out.

Stunning rooms and eating area and gardens were beautiful with the water and fishes. Food was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful with organising rental scooter. Free shuttle to Ubud Center was nice to know due to location, even though didn’t use it.

Nothing. Loved it!! Would be nice to have a later shuttle “drop off” in the evenings back to the Villa.
