A perfect, tranquil sanctuary for those seeking a quiet retreat. While it’s a bit far from central Ubud, the surrounding paddy fields make for a stunningly serene atmosphere. The property is very clean and well-kept. Though the facilities are basic and the pool is tiny, everything is well-maintained. The breakfast was a highlight—fresh, tasty, and high quality. Ideal if you want peace and nature!

We are Filipino travellers, a married couple, who stayed here for 2 nights during our holiday in Bali earlier this month (to celebrate an early Valentine's Date). Booking through Agoda (our go-to platform) led us to such a wonderful stay. From the moment we arrived, we were genuinely impressed by the warmth and professionalism of the staff, especially the receptionist on the morning shift. They were attentive, friendly, and spoke excellent English. Check-in was smooth, we were welcomed with drinks, and any requests were handled promptly. The service truly stood out. The location is peaceful, surrounded by rice fields, yet still conveniently close to Ubud Center. It felt safe with staff available 24/7. Our villa was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, especially the soft, fresh-smelling bed. The breakfast was beautifully prepared and tasted like something from a high-end hotel. Wifi was reliable, and amenities were complete. Although the bathtub could use a little updating and we noticed a few centipedes around the property, particularly near the pool and outdoor bathing area at the back (likely due to the natural setting) these were very minor issues compared to the overall experience. It was absolutely worth the price, and honestly, even more than we expected. Without a doubt, we would stay at Villa Kayu Lama again when we return to Bali. Suitable for couples, families, business travellers, and even solo guests. Hightly recommended!

Staff are polite and helpful and they provide free shuttle service at certain time slots to the Ubud centre (Coco supermarket) as the villa is tucked away from the main area (Ubud art market). The room appears to be quite dated and old with furniture showing some signs of wear and tear. There are also a lot of centipedes and mosquitoes since the villa is located near a field and the area seems quite rural and remote. There is a small on-site restaurant and the dinner we had there was actually pretty good with a decent menu! Breakfast was alright but can be improved. You can request for a floating breakfast at no additional charge (if you booked your stay with breakfast). Overall ok with room for improvement.
