A Wonderful Stay in a Unique Hotel and charming Bad Hofgastein

Hotel Blu has an excellent location — just 20 meters from the ski bus and a beautiful square connected to the main promenade. The town itself is charming. The staff in the bar, restaurant, and at the reception were kind, friendly, and welcoming. Special praise goes to the hotel’s interior design — the lobby, restaurant, and library are beautifully arranged, with impressive attention to detail. The glassware and tableware were elegant and added to the overall experience. The cuisine was very good — delicious breakfasts, including shakshuka, with noticeable Asian influences in the kitchen. The New Year’s Eve dinner was light, very well organized, and thoroughly enjoyable. We had a wonderful view from our room. The owner is quite firm but kind, and the overall atmosphere reflects a high level of professionalism. There are wonderful walking trails nearby, perfect for walks with a dog, and the hotel is truly dog-friendly — you can genuinely feel that pets are warmly welcomed. The hotel does not have a playroom for small children, which was actually a plus for us, as it made the atmosphere much quieter. We would also like to thank the staff for the kind treatment of our son in the restaurant and for the excellent kids’ menu.

Unfortunately, we also have some negative feedback. Despite booking an apartment through Booking.com, we were given a room that was extremely small for three people. The wardrobe was suitable for two people only, and the extra bed for our child was very uncomfortable — our son was unable to sleep on it. The bathroom is designed inside the room, directly behind the bed, which significantly reduces privacy and may wake a sleeping child. Additionally, there was an unpleasant sewage smell in the toilet. The worst experience concerned the housekeeping staff on the 3rd floor and their supervisor. Due to medical reasons, I needed to keep my medication in a mini fridge, which required continuous electricity. For this reason, I requested three key cards. I explicitly asked the cleaning staff not to remove the electricity card, yet it was taken twice, and on both occasions the cleaner denied having done so. As a result, my medication was exposed to high temperatures, which is unacceptable. After the second incident, I reported the issue to reception, who replaced the cards. However, the housekeeping supervisor — despite not witnessing the situation — defended her employee. The card was in the room when we left and missing when we returned; it did not disappear on its own. In addition, the balcony trash (dog food packaging) was not removed, white towels for our child were not replaced, toilet paper was not replenished, and overall the room was left poorly. Overall, our stay was good, and the hotel has great potential.

Location was very convenient. Breakfast was delicious, a huge variety of food. Ski locker was a bonus! And the bus stop was great to hop on and go to the mountain to ski.

A hot tub would have been great!

I wouldn’t stay again but I would use the bar a restaurant. Disappointing.

Limited guest toiletries which is a problem if you are flying hand luggage only. No bottled water or tea/ coffee making facilities in the room. Bathroom lighting poor and no magnifying mirror for make up. No staff around for breakfast service as I wanted decaf coffee. I did find someone on day 2 and 3. my room in the front older part of the hotel looked dated and having stayed in a pension nearby for half the price previously I didn’t feel the stay was value for money.

Just can’t get used to the austrian mixed sauna so skipped the beautiful hotel spa. Ventilation in the room wasn’t very good.

Great location, mountains, spas and good food

The staff during our stay where extremely professional and polite. the hotel had a wonderful modern feel to walk around, mostly the restaurant, bar and the reading room. the spa and rooftop garden where fabulous and the ability to book a yoga course included within the stay was really enjoyable.

the internet wasn’t that fast. at breakfast you had to always wait quite a while to get coffee. potentially getting a 2nd coffee machine would help. although I noticed there was filter coffee left to the side to potentially help, this would need to be made much clearer with a sign.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. The hotel looked very modern and colorful and was located ideally at the center of town. And the breakfast buffet was simply amazing! We also enjoyed the sauna a lot, it was very clean and there were sufficient comfy beds to rest afterwards.

The only thing we were not really happy with, was our room. It was in the older part of the building and one could tell, that they tried to renovate it very quickly. Paint peeled off, or was not done well. And it smelled a bit damp and like old cigarette smoke :( If staying here, I would recommend asking for a room in the newer part.

Un hotel situat în centrul stațiunii, personalul foarte amabil, micul dejun bun. Stația de autobuz este la 20 m distanță.

Cină, ar putea fi îmbunătățiță, băuturile nu au fost incluse în masa de seara, nici măcar apă de la robinet nu era pusă pe masă. Zona de lobby, care este destul de mică. Camerele din partea vechea hotelului sunt de 3 stele.

Es war einfach total enspannend

Die Lage des Hotels ist top, der Schibus hält direkt vor dem Haus, das Frühstück ist sehr reichlich und gut, mit regionalen Produkten und viel selbstgemacht. Das gesamte Personal umsichtig, zuvorkommend freundlich, bemüht und sehr nett.

Es war überall irrsinnig warm, es könnte sicher um 2 bis 5 grad kühler sein in den Gängen
