Staying at Acropolis House, I always change my place to stay when visiting Athens, the four-storey Victorian guesthouse that seems to lean comfortably into its own history. The ground floor still hums with memory — vintage armchairs softened by decades of travellers, the 1950s jukebox standing silent but dignified, the old telephone exchange like a relic from a slower, more deliberate age.

Stairs bathrooms advertise walk in shower was more like a small RV wet bath. Two of our party ended up with bed bugs
