JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort and Spa

We took rooms that opened up to the pool, that was nice. Its a large property - lots of space to walk. The beach is very good.

Depending on your room you may have to walk a fair bit. We got caught out in the rains a couple of times doing so.

The food was excellent throughout our stay, with a great variety and very high quality. The facilities are beautiful and clearly designed with a lot of attention to detail, which we really appreciated. Small touches such as sunscreen available by the pool and bath salts prepared in the room made the experience feel thoughtful and luxurious. Unfortunately, the service level did not match the standard we expected from a hotel of this level, and this significantly impacted our experience. Our vacation started on the wrong foot during check-in. There was a discrepancy between the price listed on Booking and the amount we were asked to pay at the hotel. While the manager later came and explained the difference, the front desk representative who initially handled the situation was unpleasant and made an already frustrating situation feel worse. In addition, we were surprised that there was no waiter service at the pools, and the bartenders at the main pool bar were not welcoming or service-oriented. For us, service is one of the most important parts of a luxury hotel experience. While the property itself is beautiful and the food was wonderful, the disappointing service means I do not see myself returning for another stay.
