Hôtel Bon Encontre

The bedroom room (No. 7) was larger than expected, with the bathroom also larger than anticipated with his and her sinks, large 'walk-in shower' and toilet, connected by a door to the Air Conditioned Bedroom - lots of space to move around and storage within - small side windows in each room with electric shutters also added to the convenience and practicality as it was very sunny and very hot during our 9 night stay (38-40 for first few days). Breakfast was exceptional and varied (different cheeses presented) each day overlooking the pool area, with the owner (Christine) most attentive - all very personalised - we were made to feel very special and valued during our stay, not just another guest passing through. Lovely infinity swimming pool with lots of loungers and parasols available. Large, safe car park also adds to the Hotel convenience, with the Hotel situated some 7-10 mins walk down to Sarlat centre and 15 mins back up as the last part of the approach to the Hotel is fairly steep - Elderly or those with mobility issues might find this challenging. Having said that, we used and parked the car fairly easily on many evenings, even on Market days/evenings, going at 7pm ( parking free after 6.30/7pm) Very well placed Hotel to get into and around Sarlat once you become aware of the one way road system & road diversion points on Market days (thankfully pointed out by Christine). Exceptional Host and exceptional Hotel property which is quiet, calm and relaxing. We highly recommend.

A minor point, but it perhaps would have been nice to have an English TV Channel (BBC TV News World Service?) available, but who really wants to watch TV for very long when you're in a lovely Hotel with a pool, terrace, gardens and view over surrounding hills.

High up the hill in a quiet location. Fabulous pool and great parking. Christine was helpful and good fun and took plenty of time to share restaurant recommendations and places to go. A little gem.

Bathroom was very small and tired but we did get the last available room. Breakfast was good quality but not to our taste. The walk back up the hill was very steep and a challenge after dinner

This is not an Hôtel it is a bed & breakfast. After 8pm all staff have left, there are no lounge/bar facilities, no where to have an after dinner drink. We were there for 3 night whilst the area has 38-40 degree heat, the air conditioning in our room just could not cope. The room never got below 30 degrees.

Wonderful breakfast and great advice from the host about great restaurants in the area.
