The view, breakfast and check in were fantastic. The hotel was much larger and had more facilities than I considered before my arrival. I would have liked to stay longer. The view from the room was amazing.

My mom was staying with us, and it was a little difficult going up and down between where she was sleeping an the bathroom via a spiral staircase. However,I don't think much could be done about that.

The hotel was modern, clean, and well maintained. The breakfast was good, though adding a little more variety would make it even better. The breakfast area was spacious and pleasant. The staff were friendly, polite, and always helpful. The swimming pool was a great addition for families. The location is excellent, with the bus station conveniently located right next to the hotel. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay.

While we enjoyed our stay overall, there are several areas that could be improved. The rooms have no air conditioning or proper ventilation. Opening the windows allows many flying insects, including flies and wasps, to enter, while keeping them closed makes the room uncomfortably warm during summer. Unfortunately, housekeeping also left our windows open while we were away, and we returned to a room full of insects, including a large wasp and spiders. Installing insect-control devices, such as UV insect traps or repellents, would greatly improve guest comfort. The hallways are fully carpeted but lack air fresheners, which makes the common areas feel less fresh. Installing automatic fragrance dispensers throughout the corridors and public areas would create a much more pleasant atmosphere. Access to the swimming pool could also be improved. Families currently have to pass through the sauna/changing area where other guests may be undressed, which is not suitable for everyone, especially Muslim families. A separate entrance to the pool would be appreciated. The billiard table was available, but the balls were missing, making it unusable. We were also disappointed that the kitchen and kitchenware were locked and required an additional CHF 40 fee, despite choosing this hotel because it advertised kitchen facilities. This extra charge was not clearly communicated during booking. Addressing these issues would significantly improve the comfort and overall experience for future guests.

The restaurant had exceptional food, and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The small village was lovely, especially at Christmas. The Hotel did a fantastic job with Christmas decorations, especially at the entrance, where we had Gluhwein on Christmas eve and a fabulous buffet for dinner in the restaurant. The bar was also a great place to relax with fantastic views.

It is very much a family hotel, so if you have dinner at the first seating, 6 to 8pm it is overrun with kids screaming and running about. Our room was small and in need of renovation, with holes and stains in the carpet. There is no daily housekeeping or replacement of provisions. The bathroom was extremely small and unsafe. The pool opens at 8pm so you cannot have an early morning swim, and it is than too busy with children. No adult hours. There wasn't much to do, with the gondola out of action until January 1st and very little snow in December. Don't be fooled by their photos. We were told it rarely snows at the hotel by staff. We had to drive to Grindelwald. We asked why there wasn't any notice of the Gondola not working in English and the receptionist just pointed to a small sign in German and French. Not sure what she was on! Apparently, they had known back in November that the Neider horn was closed until January 1st. However, they had no such information on their website at the time when we were booking (November). We wouldn't have booked the hotel had we known. That was very poor and signage generally is also very poor. Could do a lot better. It does not compare to a Hotel like The Cambrian at Adelboden, which is also 4 stars.
