A nice break away for some ME time

Loved the layout of the hotel and rooms were very comfortable . Food was excellent and great value for money .

Didn’t like idea of pouring your own tea coffee from the burners . Thought it was dangerous and never seen before in hotel . Think it’s nice for these requirements should be catered by staff

Disappointed

Nice size room

We travelled there in a group for a family birthday booking a total of 4 separate rooms over the duration of 1-2 nights between the group , Considering it was such a quiet time of year and during the week as opposed to a weekend I was disappointed to find a number of disappointing events including the following which are : that we were not told a check out time which almost resulted in being charged a late fee of check out . We also opted for a deluxe room but then we did not even have a fridge whereas one family member in a basic rooms had the courtesy of having a fridge even though we opted for a more expensive room , we also dined in the restaurant/ bar area to which we had to enquire frequently with staff as to where items of food were as we were missing certain things each time we ordered . We also had a birthday cake stored in the hotel fridge at the bar after dining on our first night and asked them to hold the remains due to not having a fridge in our room or in another family members room (one family room had a fridge which was full due to nobody else having one ) but when we enquired about taking the remains of the cake out to take home the staff member did not come back for 10 minutes then when asked again had told us she “did not have time to check” even though there were maximum 10 people if even in the bar area and x2 staff members , then the staff member had to be asked a third time about the cake to when she came back she had no idea where it was and told us it was gone and there was no cake there !! Which leaves us wondering was it binned or eaten by someone ? Very disappointing overall as it was our first time staying here and we travelled from Dublin .

Fab couple of days

The staff were all lovely that I interacted with from check-in, to the bar and breakfast. My room was huge with a lovely little balcony and I loved that there was plenty of teabags in the room as not everyone drinks coffee

The only thing was the room was very warm, but there was a fan in the room.

Enjoyable but not restful

The hotel felt tired and dated throughout. It was very noisy hotel. The noise of people shutting their doors. Then doors slammed consistently from 7am onwards which turned out to be accommodation staff in what seemed to be a utility storage room.

Disappointing. Have stayed in Knightbrook many years ago and felt it has gone downhill a lot.

Close to Trim.

Hotel very much needs a refresh. For a 4star hotel it is not good enough. More staff needed. Dirty tables from afternoon tea still not tidied / cleaned at 7:30pm at night. The library area while a nice idea was very untidy with all books stacked in piles on the shelves so no spines or fronts visiable. 75% of the restaurant at breakfast was dirty tables. Had to queue to get into breakfast as there was no clean tables to sit at. Basic conference room style flask of hot water for tea making at breakfast is very disappointing. No confectionery or snack options in the hotel, no vending machine, no Pringles / crisps for sale behind the bar. As the closest shop is a petrol station a 5 minute drive away this is not ideal for families with children who may not be able to leave the grounds but are hungry. The only food options are meals or expensive room service which is limited on times. Room was basic but had stains on the furniture, no ventilation and lots of condensation on the window in the morning. Toiletries provided were very cheap looking. Not 4star quality.

Paid for Thermal Suite in Spa and 2-4 rooms in the thermal suite were broken. arrived for dinner at 5.30 in the restaurant and they couldn’t take us even though it was empty and just opened so we had to get dinner in Trim town. We were happy to go to get out of the hotel as the bar looked grim. Ordered a margarita when we got back from dinner and the glasses were slim gin as there was no proper glasses. Even though the bar was dead. No beer mats and overheard bar staff complaining that we ordered cocktail (even though there was a cocktail menu) we gave up and then went to bed after a while.

Unusual location but lovely stay.

Comfortable, spacious room. Lovely, helpful staff. Lots of people staying in the hotel but it didn't feel full. I'd forgotten my swimming costume and they had a range of swimsuit sizes for sale at the leisure centre, which was very convenient. Spa and leisure centre was lovely.

The presentation and range of fruits and yoghurts (stored in bowls in a fridge) was not appealing and was disappointing. Also, the location of the hotel (in a housing estate surrounded by houses) was unusual and almost felt like an intrusion on peoples homes. Small gripes - otherwise, couldn't fault the hotel.

Worse experience of a hotel I have ever encountered

This overall experience started off horrendous. 1st I requested a early check in due to a wedding even a half hour early and when we got there it was full of excuses about everyone else requesting this so we had to get changed in a bathroom which we could find I went into the spa to ask the lady and I was told to shush with her finger over her mouth I was disgusted and walked out. After the trouble of finding this and how awkward it was to get changed we brought our bags back to reception and was then told check in was still not available that we can leave our bags and they would be brought to the room. We came back got our keys our bags were not there they were back down stairs. When I walked into the room the windows were full of birds droppings I have photos. The shower didn’t work the pillows were cheap and the room over all was dated. This was not a four star hotel and I will be letting everyone know. I was told later on my all the family and friends they got early check in because they booked through the wedding party this is discrimination I paid the exact same amount through booking.Com and got treated unfairly I flew back from England for this and had my man staying in this run down room. I am very dissatisfied and will be putting a complaint in of how we were treated.

The bathroom needs updating. The shower over the bath required a rubber non slip mat as there was water softener in the system which made it very slippery, also the tap water tasted awful. There were a couple of bottles of water available though. The bed was hard.

Showers and bathrooms need updating, water temp kept changing, and absolutely hated that I had to shower in a tiny bath with a shower curtain that kept sticking to me. For the cost of the room they need to upgrade the showers

Lovely hotel, would stay again.

Staff were really friendly and informative. Everywhere was very clean. Nice homey feeling. Facilities in room were appreciated, coffee, ironing board etc.

Property itself was really lovely. No complaints. I requested interconnecting rooms but the door was locked. When we asked that it be opened front desk said only house keeping could do this. Housekeeping had left the building. Had booked multiple rooms and got no complimentary breakfast which I feel would have been a nice gesture.

Had lots of facilities and great staff on reception especially Jack who went over and above for us, the bar staff were also great made you feel welcome

The cleaning of the room and the food was below par ordered a prawn starter was like rubber for €18 for 7 prawns, ordered a cheese sandwich not toasted and came toasted with crisps for €8 next was my fault however sadly not resolved I spilt tea in bed, maid came in the stain was quite visible and the sheets were not changed and bed sheets pulled over and for €812 for 4 nights would have expected higher cleaning

The hotel was lovely decorated

The food was awful. Paid €80. We had steak, which I asked for to be cooked rare, but it wasn’t even pink and full of fat. And my wife ordered a beef, which she couldn’t eat, as it was nothing but fat. We ended up just paying the bill and going to the filling station down the road for a sandwich. Staff never once asked was the food okay or did we need anything, which gave to the thinking that they know the food is horrible. Breakfast was not great either. Plus, there was no turning the heating off in the room, so it was a very warm night. They did have a fan in the room, but it didn’t help much
