Do not expect anything more than a basic room to sleep in.

Central location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Steven was really kind and gave us a table and bar stool to do some work.

Noisy busy road outside meant that my sleep was disturbed. The beds were basic - the mattress was not at all comfortable. No wardrobe, desk or chair in the room. It was basically a box with two single beds. It was not cheap either. For £81 a night, you would expect more!

Bed & duvet were too short for me + the street was very noisy and the windows not soundproof, so I did not sleep much.

It's above a pub/bar that has closed down. The rooms are oddly laid out, no lamps or bedside tables and poorly decorated. Overall felt a bit 'sketchy' but it was cheap and just about suited our needs for a bed for a night.

Phenomenal amount of noise from outside, so I wouldn't book here unless you are deaf.

The bathroom was very nice. The bed was comfortable.

It said on the room description that there would be tea and coffee making facilities. There was nothing of that sort. I also didn't like being told to bring proof of ID and then be told I would be self checking in. I know who I am! More importantly, the lock to the door was faulty. I could lock it from the inside but not the outside. This needs addressing before the next person comes to stay.

Conveniently located venue, very accomodating staff.

Conveniently located, 24-hour keypad access so amazing for late night arrival, a telephone number to call if you need anything, and they were highly responsive and kindly able to accommodate a late checkout for me which was an absolute game changer. Would highly recommend.

Steve is brilliant manager at this site He is caring and very helpful if you need or lost some where Casle point is very good if you are travelling single and want to center of city

Do Not Recommend

It was somewhere to sleep for a night

Room we got wasn't shown on the listing, not even slightly soundproof, no furniture apart from a couple of stools and a partially broken bed. There was a tv, but it didn't work at all. The curtains didn't cover the windows and one was only partially attached to the curtain rail. The windows were also awkward to open. We ended up just getting different hotel after one night. Customer support was contacted for a refund, but they never replied.

Room was tidy but not great and although yes, you do know what you're getting yourself in for staying above a pub on a main Cambridge city centre street... The noise from the street and the disco below went on way too loud and way too late.

Weird place

Great location

Difficult to find room. Needed to go through several doors and up lots of stairs. Found someone else's toe nail in my bed the next morning - yuk!!!

Great location, simple but very comfortable stay

Location - perfect Room - simple, but comfortable Shared Bathroom - much better than expected to be honest, a nice clean bathroom, with good facilities, and we didn't really see anyone else! Security - very private

Noise - as a university town, you cant expect anywhere to be perfectly quiet, but as you are on a main road, it was quite loud when we were trying to sleep.

Comfy clean bed and towels

Very poor on the decor and filthy walls and carpets . Toilet was blocked , don't rate sharing a bathroom . Rooms far too basic , curtains didn't meet and hanging off the hooks . Was more like a bedsit for students

Staff were friendly enough but the room was way below the standard I was expecting.

It was close to the centre of Cambridge and nearby to where I was visiting.

It was basic with no tea/coffee making felicities, the tv didn’t work, the carpet in the room smelt like someone had used it as a toilet, I struggled to get the key in the door on numerous occasions and the shared bathrooms and toilets were a mess.

I thought it would be basic but it was way below that.

The central location!

I hoped for decent basic facilities but unfortunately not. A partitioned room with extra thin walls, no way to open a window because of the main road and no bedside light - only a single overhead bulb. Tried to use the TV as a light but it wasn’t connected to anything, even after trying the autotuning. I didn’t trust the door lock enough to leave my electricals in the room, so ended up carrying things about. Difficult access for anyone not completely able and during a heat wave I ended up with no sleep before an important event.

Worst two nights of my life

Location central

Constant loud noise all night. Straight onto main road. Site gets bin collections and loud beer barrel deliveries from 5:30am. There are no onsite staff. On one evening a neighbouring guest played loud music till gone midnight. No blackout or fitting curtains. Cables hanging from walls in corridors. Vomit and fast food debris over the doorstep.

The DJ was playing in the bar below until 3.30am and it would have been too loud to sleep. This was fine for us (we were on the dance floor!) but might be a surprise for others !

Worst night’s sleep of my life.

It’s central, I suppose

Horrific noise levels until past 3am. The room was vibrating with the music (presumably to entertain the approximately 5 customers downstairs?) We were told they would supply ear plugs - they did not. Room is grubby and very basic with a broken lock. Shower was cold and you have to keep pressing a button or it turns off every 5 mins. Generally dingy and unpleasant. Room only had one key. Staff were not very helpful.

Awesome place

Fun place, great Steven and Omar. Omar’s Disco is the best in Cambridge. We’re staying in Castle Bar for numerous times. It’s unbeatable on price and entertainment.

To enter your room like a puzzle you have to enter 5 doors to get your room. The shower and bathroom are sharing so in the morning you have to wait in the queue 😀 I booked two nights but I stayed only one night and I lost the cancellation fees.

Great location, friendly staff, good size room, loud music at the weekend so bring ear plugs!

Great location as it’s only a 10 minute walk or so into the centre of Cambridge and the river which is great for the price. The room was comfortable and a good size for three of us. We were on the top floor and we’re really surprised by how big the room was as there was loads of room for our bags etc. The shared bathrooms were always clean and had the standard shower gel, shampoo and conditioner to use if needed which was really handy. The staff were really friendly when we checked in and very helpful!

The noise levels from downstairs at the bar were louder than we expected, however we brought ear plugs as we had seen the warning that music goes on till 3am so we just made sure we had those in to start with when we went to sleep and that really helped! Also, the property could do with a little refurb but considering how cheap it was for so close to town, it was a great price!

Sleepless night.

You really need to advertise to guests how loud the room is - it is unfair to host people in rooms with absolutely no sound proofing without any kind of disclosure about how loud it is. We didn’t get any sleep - it was like we were in the bar itself the music was so loud. We had a terrible experience. We would strongly advise people to never stay here on the days where the bar is open late.
