Coombe Cottage

Great inverted 4 bed cottage with a huge upstairs lounge area giving a glorious view across the southern end of Derwent water and the sunsets. The downstairs kitchen and sleeping areas were lovely, well appointed and well able to handle the eight members of our party. Even the minor 'B' road outside was inaudible, making the property perfectly quiet. The full length conservatory super-porch was often warmed by the sun, and provides the necessary barrier between the muddy Lakeland world outside and the house itself.

WiFi only worked in the lounge area, and the giant telly wasn't able to connect to it - it was Sky Only (or Freeview equiv), and we would have liked live streaming the Keswick Convention each evening ... but that was only a minor niggle. Maybe the garden needed a bit more TLC - brambles were making an appearance, and while the grass area was cut during our stay, the cut was poorly done (IMHO).

Brilliant views from upstairs lounge/sitting room. Superb location for exploring the Lakes and handy with the Borrowdale Hotel next door. Spacious, well equipped, with plenty of on- suites. They have thought of everything. We were very cosy and comfortable there and would definitely do a return visit if the opportunity arises. We would highly recommend it.

No blind on front door

We liked everything about our stay in Coombe cottage. It is very spacious and offers a lot of privacy, so even the bigger group would have plenty of space to spread around the house and enjoy some privacy. The kitchen is exceptionally equipped, pretty much like home, there is everything one may need to prepare the meal etc. We loved the big, sunny trap conservatory, which served as an amazing drying room when we were back from the hills and swimming in the lake. Really spacious, comfortable, well appointed house. Beautiful little garden around the house makes this place really charming. Every window from the cottage offers beautiful views over Borrowdale Valey, Derwent Water and the hills. The location is perfect with easy access to Keswick, the lake as well as many favourite walks. And the fact that it is located on the road is not a problem at all, every window is double glazed, so absolutely no noise from the traffic inside the house. Everything was just perfect, we will return.
