Maria Cottage

Lovely cottage in great location for the shops, central park and the station. Laid out over three floors with two quite high steps on entry but very comfortable. We did not have contact from the hosts so I was not able to answer that question but on arrival we found milk, tea, coffee and sugar even some brownies left for our arrival, which was a lovely thought and very welcome after a long journey. Having two bathrooms (one on each floor) was a plus and the kitchen was stocked with most of the things you could need during your stay - even a washing machine though we did not use it with only staying a few nights. If I had to mention anything... the stairs are quite steep and the first set as you get towards the top does not have a banister. Both my aunt and I thought maybe a short banister on the left there as you reach the top (just before the window) would be safer. Parking - we parked at the back of the pub which was a few doors down and followed a path back down to the street coming out just near Maria cottage. Central Park is across the road (a delight) and at the bottom of that is the station. The shops/pubs are literally on the doorstep and the chip shop only a hundred yards down from the pub we parked in, they do a wonderful fish & chip super - enjoy !!!

The shared garden/yard area, this had three properties opening onto it and needed some weeding. We were not quite sure which bit to use so we used the park instead.

Excellent central location in Howarth with parking just around the corner. Pretty traditional cottage which is clean and well presented. A bathroom on each floor next to the bedroom works well for 2 sets of people. The kitchen seemed well equipped and milk and tea bags were provided.

We were unable to get the fire started and I have one similar so knew what to do so not sure why this was. The place was warm when we arrived and pretty much ok but for some reason the heating was styaing on at full blast all night which was not great! Garden/back yard messy but weather was not ok for us to use anyway or we were out elsewhere.

Lovely property, right on the high street with car parking arrangements right behind the property. It’s very quaint.

The location was excellent, on the Main Street, with convenient parking. The property was tastefully decorated, all amenities and spotlessly clean.

We visited near Christmas so there was some night time noise from a few Christmas party-goers walking past the cottage, but given its central location, a little noise is to be expected.
