Beautiful and Peaceful place to stay and incredible value for money.

Beautiful thatched cottage in the countryside, very quiet and peaceful . And the owners were very generous with the amount of complimentary items you have on arrival.

The one road in and out to the property was narrow and uphill and in the wet or any bad weather, could be quite dangerous and if you meet anyone coming up or down then you have to be very careful when you reverse as there is at parts of the road a drop or a brook on either side.

A lovely little slice of traditional English countryside in a tastefully, thatched cottage.

Quietness. Tastefully decorated. Milk and bread and butter supplied. The view was lovely, great private garden. Birdsong and no road noise, bliss!! The hosts were very nice and accommodating.

A lovely break in a beautiful cottage in stunning surroundings

The property was in an amazing setting. It was cosy, v comfortable, well equipped and warm (in cold February) Enclosed garden for the dog. A short but hilly walk to a great pub. The owners were v responsive to any queries prior to the visit and available, but not required during our stay.

A beautiful place

Rock House cottage is a beautiful and peaceful place. We had great walks through the surrounding woods and countryside from the door. The beds were comfortable and the place was warm and cosy. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of fridge and freezer space. We took two dogs; it was easy to dry them after walks in the porch, and the garden was perfect for them. Parking is right outside. A welcome pack of bread, butter etc was very much appreciated - thank you!

Beautiful cottage in idyllic setting

What a lovely stay at Rock House Cottage! We only wish we could have stayed longer! The host Charles was very welcoming and we loved their cockapoo Hetty! The cottage was very cosy while also feeling spacious and had great outdoor space. We were so lucky with the weather and ate outside for breakfast every morning in the beautiful garden, and played games outside in the evening. We also made use of the BBQ one evening which was great fun. Inside, the beds were very comfortable and the waterfall shower was heavenly! The kitchen was well stocked with all the equipment you’d need. There were also basics like oil, salt, pepper, tea and coffee etc The hosts kindly included a nice loaf of bread, some butter, jam and milk too! Location wise, it was perfect for exploring Dartmoor and not far from Exeter and the coastline too. Couldn’t have asked for more! We had the best time and hope to return again in future!

Warm and cosy cottage

Stayed three weeks in this lovely cottage in a very quiet location. Great facilities in a well stocked kitchen. Comfy warm lounge (it was January) and gorgeous walks out the door. Hosts were just lovely making sure everything was fine for us

it’s clearly very popular and therefore needs a bit more of tlc in the general uptick and cleaning in my honest opinion. That wouldn’t necessarily stop me staying again and I would want to know.

An interesting, picturesque cottage in a unique location. Would love to see it it the summer.

Great location, and ideal for our purpose. Very interesting property, and our first time in a thatched cottage. Dog friendly too, which was to 'Peppers' liking. The bread, butter, and milk were a nice touch.

The living room area was a little smaller than we expected, but it was cosy, not cramped. Could do with a fan or ventilation in the shared bathroom, although it could be a listed building, so that might not be possible.

The cottage is remote yet not too far from Exeter. Hetty is an absolutely delightful dog as well. The beds are comfortable & there is plenty of space.

Beautiful cottage great location

We loved our stay at this beautiful cottage. Great location with Exeter in easy reach but totally out in the stunning countryside. Great walks from the cottage including Bridford, Steps Bridge and Fingle Bridge. Canonteign Falls is worth a visit and the views from the top of Heltor Rock are definitely worth the climb. Thanks to Charles for being a great host and all of us loved Hetty dog she was fantastic!

Scenic tranquillity.

Beautiful surroundings. The cottage had breathtaking views. Fresh local milk and bread was left which was a lovely touch. The surrounding walks are stunning :-)

If you book off this site and have more than one dog, be aware that you will be charged an extra £10 per dog per night. I really didn't mind but I felt it should have been disclosed before booking and paying the full balance. The accommodation is of a high specification and truly beautiful (inside and out), it is however an annex of Rock house, the internal doors in between are locked from Rock House side, it really wasn't an issue and I wouldn't discourage from booking but again just wanted to ensure future bookers know it is not a stand alone cottage.

we were self catering, but there was milk, bread, butter and many other items provided for us. It was lovely and quite and beautiful views. The host was there to great us and showed us around the house and explained where everything was. Excellent

Exceptional cottage

Stunning location and a beautiful property. The owner was very friendly but not imposing. The facilities are above and beyond what we expected with lots of thoughtful touches. The kitchen is very well equipped and the bed incredibly. I would definitely recommend for a wonderful break.
