A real (great, big) log cabin in the woods, with loft, large covered porch, and private beach!
This lodge/cabin (built in 2002), is on a heavily wooded lot on Townline Lake in Big Rapids. It is a beautiful, full-log home that easily sleeps 25 in beds on three floors and 2,400 sqft two-story pole barn on the property. It has something for everyone. We've slept more than 30 comfortably, by utilizing foldout furniture, cots, and air mattresses in the spacious walkout basement.
A 10-foot-wide covered, wraparound porch provides an additional 600 sq. ft. of summer living area, with a fantastic view of the lake and the beach, fire pit, tire swing, dock, and raft. Put your feet up on the Adirondack chair footrests, or play cards and board games on the picnic table, and watch the day slip away.
The beach is sandy perfect for the babies and toddlers. We have a raft 150 feet from shore, where you can swim and play in crystal clear water away from the kids playing on the beach.
The lodge has two full fireplaces, including one with a breathtaking, 22-foot stone chimney on the main floor.
The 3,500 sq. ft. lodge has three floors. The 2,400 sq ft pole barn is located just 100 feet away with its own view of the lake via windows and balcony.
The main floor holds the kitchen, large dining table, living area, one and a half baths, and two bedrooms. The walkout basement has another large living area, with a full bath, large bedroom, utility room (small 4th bedroom) and small garage/work area. The open loft has one queen and three double beds, and several twin beds perfect for the little ones to experience cabin life. But don’t worry about noise from the first floor – that fresh air will knock you out - and the kids - the moment your head hits the pillow.
A grand piano, card table, play area, view of the lake and a small balcony are also available in the loft.
Privacy and quiet are key at this lodge, which is tucked into the woods just four miles outside of Big Rapids, Michigan.
The all-sport lake is perfect for fishing, tubing, skiing, and swimming. And with only ten houses dotted around the lake, the water is usually all yours.
A pontoon boat with fishing motor, paddleboat, paddle boards, rowboat, and kayak are all included in your rental fee. (Only between Memorial Day and Labor Day)

Great vacation home.
The house is beautiful and easily housed our children and grandchildren -18 total.
We loved the pontoon boat and lake.
The hosts were friendly and responded quickly to the one minor issue. The air conditioner stopped and was repaired by the next morning at 7 am.
Many thanks for a great vacation.

Our family of 13 had a great time at Loon Lake Lodge from June 20-25, 2023. There were 8 adults & 5 children ages 1-9. We had LOTS of room to spread out. The grandchildren loved sleeping in the loft with their Nana & Papa. But we spent most of our time outside. There is a beautiful deck with a porch swing & a picnic table that is perfect for doing crafts (We always have two crafts for the little ones to do as a keepsake for the vacation we take together as a family every year). Most of our time was spent in the water though. They have a wonderful sandy beach area & sandy swimming area for the little ones. Many toys for them to play with, including a small slide for them to slide into the water. There was also a couple swing sets they had lots of fun on. We didn’t get a chance to enjoy campfires because of the burn ban but there was much firewood provided if we had been able to. We also enjoyed our rides on the pontoon boat. We brought our own tow raft to pull the little ones & to our surprise they also had one there for us. They had MANY water items. Our 3 older grandchildren (9,8,and 6) & our “big kids” had a great time on the paddle boards. The lake is actually quite weedy past the swimming area. But once you get through the weeds, there is a lot of clear water out by the raft, which our family also enjoyed jumping off from. We were afraid at first that the weeds might scare our grandchildren but they paddled right through them with no problem at all. We had a great week

We had a great time, as we always do at Loon Lake Lodge It was a little cold and rather rainy but that just added to the time we could spend playing games and enjoying each other company.
