The bathroom is a bit outdated but this is a historic venue so no complaints

Upon arrival on Friday evening we were given a room that was substantially below the expected standard. After complaining, we were provided an upgraded room for the next night, which was at a standard that we expected from the start. This is not an ideal experience for a weekend that we regarded as a lovely couples breakaway to attend a family wedding. We have to give credit to the owners for improving our experience on the second night. So a mixed experience, really.
As mentioned, we received a room on the first night that was sub-standard and not as advertised. It seemed like a type of "overflow" pf sorts with tiny bathroom. Second night was hugely improved, with a lovely larger room and proper bathroom. Waking up with traffic noise is unfortunately a reality as the property is close to a main road, despite being in a rural setting with a lovely garden. So this was really a mixed experience for us.
