Clean. Spacious. Great hosts. Well resourced, have everything you need for a self catering unit. Very quiet and private. It felt like we were alone in the yard because the cottage we were in was in a hidden corner. Roads are gravel but they were good enough to drive a hatchback in and out multiple times with no trouble.
Because it is in a forest, it gets very very cold. So in winter, you really need to pack very well. We stayed in Spring and even though it was quite warm outside the forest at Hogsback it was quite cold. But the hosts do provide electric blankets, firewood and extra blankets. You just need to be mentally and physically prepared for the cold. But I imagine it’s a great place in summer when it’s super hot and the forest can cool down the heat.
