About this house rental
“Memories in the Making” is a beautiful 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath duplex home located in the Dunes community of the Fort Morgan area in Gulf Shores, AL. Our home is a second tier beach home with 3 levels of balconies all with beautiful Gulf views as seen on HGTV's Beachfront Bargainhunt Season 12, Episode 11 (http://watch.hgtv.com/player.HBFBH.html#0250708).
If a quieter, family environment is what you are looking for, this area is for you. It’s a short drive out Fort Morgan Road. When you walk into the front door of our vacation home we want you to feel right at home. The living room has large TV, comfortable new couches, and overlooks the Gulf. There’s a fully equipped kitchen with everything you will need for those meals you might want to prepare if you decide to stay in. This level has the master bedroom with a king bed, TV, and large private bath. You’ll also find the half bath and laundry room on this level. The main level deck is just out the back door, complete with plenty of seating and table. Here you’ll find a gorgeous view of the Gulf of Mexico and the protected community wildlife habitat.
Take the staircase up to the second level where you’ll find another three bedrooms with queen beds (one also has a single bed) and TVs. The second floor has two full baths, with a second balcony at this level. Take another staircase up to the third level where you will find the fifth bedroom, complete with four twin beds, one with a trundle underneath, TV and DVD player. There’s also a balcony on this level.
Outside, there’s parking for up to five small vehicles or four large ones. There’s a charcoal and gas grill, picnic table, and a hose for washing off sand in this area. The community pool is just two houses away from the front of our house. The beautiful Fort Morgan beach is a very short walk away, down the pavement and to the boardwalk.
This area is a quaint, family oriented community, perfect for a quiet family get-away to the beach. Across the street from The Dunes neighborhood is Tacky Jack’s, a great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a drink overlooking the bay.
Parking : Parking underneath for up to 5 vehicles.

Bath towels and linens provided, along with one dish towel and cloth (bring your own beach towels).

We had a wonderful stay. The beach house is beautiful. The walk to the beach is pleasant and beautiful. The pool is close to house . We enjoyed our stay and would atay here again.

This house was the perfect size for our group. We loved the huge livingroom and kitchen. The back decks were awesome to hang out on in the evenings. The covered parking was a plus. Plus Tacky Jacks is super close.

This place was incredible. 4 years ago I was diagnosed with Stage IV kidney cancer. We live in central Arkansas. After many many 8 hour trips (one way) - sometimes weekly, sometimes monthly, to MD Anderson in Houston TX, this trip was the fruition of my many dreams during treatment. I told my husband shortly after diagnosis that I wanted this trip when things slowed down and things were good. We took our 3 adult sons and all of their people (including 6 grandkids) with us. Your home afforded ME and my thankful heart this trip. Your kitchen was more than stocked with utensils, cooking tools and supplies. (May I suggest an air fryer, though? ) The baby things were plenty, though we didn’t need them. There are many many games throughout the home. That made for some fun family time together. Each room has its own TV in the event you need some ‘away’ time from all your people . The beach toys, extra chairs and wagon were so helpful with our big group. Not a bad walk to the beach and certainly not an overly crowded beach as with some places ‘in town’. The wonderful deck with a view of beautiful homes and the wonderful gulf was enjoyed each morning and every night for more family togetherness. You were so helpful when the washing machine kept giving an error code. A quick response from my message and a quick service call to repair it. Your home was perfect for us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Pros:The space is great with plenty of room to accommodate guests. Close to the beach - about a Walmart parking lot away.The outdoor pool is also only a few steps away. We didn't use the indoor pool but it was within walking distance. The water pressure was awesome! The host was very polite and responsive.
Neutral: A lot of the beach supplies are broken so don't count on using those. Example:the wagon handle was broken and zip tied on. The zip tie was stripped so pulling it was a nightmare.We tried it the one time but just put it back in the closet after that. Some toys/boards are broken too. This isn't really a con for me because we rented for the space not the beach supplies.
Cons:The cleaning company is inadequate to say the least. Every toilet had mold in them.Two of the three shower curtains had mold from the bottom to about a third of the way up.The number to the cleaning company was provided on the bulletin board but we did not reach out so the company and the owner really didn't have a chance to address.Our family only gets to go on vacation around once every three years and we didn't want to spend our limited time scheduling a time for the cleaning company or waiting for them to come back.We just all used the one shower that didn't have mold on it and cleaned the toilets ourself. When removing the toilet brush from one of the holders we saw that the toilet brush was caked with poop. Obviously the cleaning company didn't even attempt to clean the bathrooms.
