Brilliant Hotel - Afternoon Tea Inclusive

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Brilliant Hotel. It’s in a great location with our room providing a window seat to the Dragon Bridge. The room & hotel was always clean, and the staff were super friendly & extra willing to assist in any way. Close to great local markets & eateries. We loved it!

The only failing of this hotel is the “hot” water in our room. We stayed on the 6th floor (of 17) arriving on a Thursday. The showers seemed warm enough that evening, but every day following we struggled to get anything more than warm water through the taps, at any time of day, morning, noon or night. At one time, with the hotel engineer present, we ran three taps (bath, shower & basin) for 20 minutes & only achieved water around 38-40 degrees C. Eventually, another 5-10 minutes of water running down the drain, it might have hit slightly warmer than 40deg C. Absolutely no fear of accidental scalding!! This is an unacceptable level of water waste, & a serious issue for the hotel’s building management.

The view and location of this hotel are amazing, close to the markets and many, many restaurants and cafés. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The view from the Afternoon tea bar was stunning, but the offerings were less impressive.

This hotel does not have a separate walk in shower, unless you're willing to climb into the tub first. So, not so good for guests with any leg disability or elderly people. The lobby had a foul order for the 4 days we were there. The rooms are a bit small. We visited the spa for a massage but after seeing the pool area and the sauna facilities, we changed mind and rather visit one of the spa's close to the hotel. There are many steps or a steep ramp to get to the reception from the outside. Again, NOT handicapped or disability friendly. The breakfast is catered mostly towards their Asian guest, so I stuck with the bread and butter. I have eaten very well in Vietnam, but this was different.
