Their pizza and happy hour specials were amazing. It was great to have breakfast included. They have a generous ice machine. The grounds were well maintained. The parking was plentiful. It was gated at night which was comforting. Our room was clean and comfortable. The patio outside our room was relaxing. The pool towels were soft and beautiful. It was convenient drive to the Liberia airport that is why we stayed there our last night in Costa Rica.
Potrero, the closest beach, was not very desirable. Luckily when we checked in, Teresa, was wonderful and she told us to go to Playa Penca instead which was a bit longer walk or an easy drive as it had plenty of parking. Playa penca was beautiful. The water was refreshing and the shade was lovely. It was especially beautiful at sunset.

My wife and I would like to thank Rosemary and the rest of the staff for a very relaxing stay at this charming property. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful, and the room was great - nice kitchenette, really great AC and wifi, super comfortable bed.
We are older and my wife found the area around the hotel a little bit challenging to walk as you have to walk on the road as there are no prepared sidewalks, so I was aware of scanning for vehicles and for safety all the time. It's a minor issue tho as everyone does it, vehicles drivers generally drive quite slowly and calmly, and they all know to give room for pedestrians.

We had a great stay at Bahia Esmeralda Boutique Hotel & Villas. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere was calm, laid back, and relaxing. The hotel is a smaller complex, which made it feel more personal and quiet.
The location was very convenient. It is about a 10 minute walk to the beach, with a convenience store right across the street and a larger grocery store about 5 minutes away. It is also close to Playa Flamingo and only about a 20 minute drive to Tamarindo.
Our kids had a blast in the pool and loved exploring the surroundings, especially spotting iguanas around the property. Overall, a very enjoyable and easy stay for a family.
