Breakfast: good and early - something sorely missed on other places in Portugal. I mean, even 7:30 is quite late, but they were ready even earlier. Why the hotels can't provide breakfast at 6:30 is beyond me - most trips and cruises starts early and you need to be at the meeting point at 7:30 - 8:30, so you need to be able to have that breakfast quite early. I wish the hotels understand their customers' needs better...
Check-in process: 24 minutes for check-in!!! 12 with previous customer, 12 with me, debating on their unreasonable requests. Staff: although composed and well intended, I really disliked the way the receptionist responded to my queries. We came through a downpour rain (it was yellow weather warning for the rain in Lisbon, at the date), wet and shivering, waiting in line for check-in. No attention to our need for warmth and comfort. I mean, you can see with the naked eye that we needed warmth and changing of clothes, yet no one from the front desk bothered to even ask. Come on! Basic common sense, you don't need to be trained for! Check-in again: they dared to ask for a 100 EURO warranty deposit, in case we broke stuff or damage the property. Really? I have never been asked before or after for such thing! Ever! of course I denied such request, I signed a paper, but give them no money, so they backed down. What is that? They do have a form for it, so they clearly were prepared for. But take a look at your guests! We are a silent couple, trying to enjoy a trip in that otherwise beautiful country! I was really appalled and upset! I told to the operator that I will submit a damning review and I will uphold that. Location: we knew it upfront, isn't it? Still, I have found it difficult to reach on foot, because Lisbon is quite hilly, you need to walk upwards (depending on the direction you are coming from) and the cobblestone street is slippery when raining. When looking at the map, you can't see the altitude change.... Parking: when I booked, I looked to the site and contacted the hotel for a parking space, but there was no direct entrance or indication on how to get there or if I have a parking space reserved. So, I had to search for an alternative on my own and found it not far - and cheaper than at the hotel! I wish the hotel to be clearer and to provide direction and also reserve a space when requested.
