Beautiful location with fabulous garden and views. I stayed during very hot weather and the gardens were lovely to sit in. The Hotel is a beautiful old building. Yes some upgrades may be required, but that may take away some of its charm.

This is a relatively unknown hotel. It deserves to be better known. Set in its own grounds there are views from the bar/restaurant and patio area across to the Lakeland Fells with the River Derwent in between. Peacocks stroll around the grounds. Plenty of parking and within easy reach of Cockermouth. Prices are remarkably cheap and portions at Breakfast and Dinner are more than ample. It is a family run hotel and the family are friendly and efficient

Good hospitality. Home cooked chips
The rooms were not clean. Not just the bedroom, the hall, stairs, landing, restaurant all had visible cobwebs. The bathroom needed a deep clean as did the carpet in our bedroom
