Great value for money last minute booking straight forward beautiful old building.Staff available if need but not in your face.Tge room was a bit cold when I arrived but not surprising with the time of year outside temperature and big old building will take some heating but staff had obviously thought about this and had been in with an additional van heater which quickly warmed the room.Breakfast was exceptional and big portions grounds beautiful
Nothing would Definately go again

First course of dinner substituted by another option, without asking, when it emerged that there had been a misunderstanding about what the first choice was.
Extra large room with four-poster bed and lovely view priced the same as a standard double
During a spell of really cold weather it turned out to be impossible to keep most places warm enough.

I had a great day, the host is welcoming and very efficient, and really runs the place very well, there was a real fireplace in the bar area which is a real treat, I had a steak pie for dinner which was really well-made, I would come back
Couple of paint touchups are probably due, but I told her I would stay in this place again

Location to the event we attended- quiet
Cold- no heating. Small blow heater provided. Not explained at check in. Broken and mouldy windows. Stained bed throws.

Our hosts were warm and friendly, our room was clean and tidy, it had everything we needed, but a big plus was the superb food on offer. The breakfast was amazing and the carvery good value for money. We will return in the spring.
We cannot give any negative comments.

The location was great for us and the hotel is in a splendid little building, a true 'hidden gem'. The staff we met were great, especially Dan, who welcomed us and couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfast was superb, generous, well-presented and very tasty!
The internal furnishings were a litle tired and some renewals, upkeep and general maintenance would not go amiss. The bathroom was not as clean as we would have liked and my wife found that the breakfast plate was not quite clean, a great pity since otherwise the breakfast was a highlight, as mentioned above.

Super size bedroom, dog friendly (and somewhere to dispose of poo bags), quiet, nice staff, very good food & very reasonably priced for dinner. Plenty of parking space and good sized grounds. Also property & grounds high enough to not be affected by the exceptional flooding in the area during our stay!! Location snd road network great to explore the coast and towns in the area. Would stay again if in area.

Location and building
A little tired around the edges. Would cost a fortune to fully refurb and I recognise that it offered value for money because of that.

The rooms were large with stunning views from the windows. Dinner in the restaurant was a bonus as this accommodation is out of town. The grounds were well kept.

Location and building lovely. Staff were lovely and a cracking breakfast.
It’s a big building which must cost a fortune to maintain, so a little tired in places.

Very warm welcome from Dan and the team, The room was homely and warm. The food was homecooked, tasty and plentiful! For the price we paid per night we were extremely surprised by the place and quality of service. Honestly the staff could not have been more helpful. We had dinner the evening we arrived which was fabulous; Steak Pie and Craggs Burger. Then woke up to the biggest breakfast we have seen! the quality of the ingredients was great.
One piece of feedback I would give and I am sure there is a reason for this. (I would never mark down the rating either, but think it would 'wow' people more) The breakfast room has no windows, the main room does and I think the view of the grounds would make a big difference to the morning/breakfast experience.

Excellent breakfast and the carvery in the evening was good. The staff were very friendly. Plenty of car parking.
The rooms were a little tired and the shower was low on water pressure but the hotel had plenty of character which reflects its age.

We loved the fact it was dog friendly, very cosy rooms, both to sit in downstairs and sleep in. Open fire, amazing home cooked food, clean and tidy all over. Friendly staff. Bar well stocked. Grounds were beautiful.
A little bit cold but we are from the south!

Only location was good
Hotel was dirty everywhere, everything was old and used and not clean. We had so many spider webs in the bathroom and in the room that I have cleaned myself so I would not end up with spider on my head. It was 3 people in our group and we got 2 towels for 4 nights, when I left them in the bathtub like it said on the wall I was expecting to get new towels next day but no. The rooms were not cleaned every day, glasses not cleaned, beds not made, towels not changed, it smells there terrible, I have bought air freshener to make the room smell ok to sleep in it. The breakfast was shocking, everything dry, only one kind of fruits for yogurt which was some dry plums in syrop no fresh fruits at all. The spider webs everywhere. Do not stay there.

The food was lovely in the hotel, breakfast was great. The rooms were clean and comfortable and had facilities stated. There were no fans though and as it was very warm, we were glad we took our own. The gardens were lovely to sit in on an evening, with a drink from the bar.
The whole place needs a coat of paint and the windows need cleaning in and out. Cobwebs need removing everywhere. In the room there were many high up around the beams and behind doors and in corners in the downstairs toilets

Our stay was relaxing, the room was very quiet and bed & bathroom were clean.
Breakfast was good, great choice of cooked food. Service was excellent.
Staff (father and son, I think) were friendly, helpful and provided a warm welcome.
Room 3 was very small and had a tired look about it. Cleaning could be improved (coffee cup rings on bedside table) and it is in need of better furniture (eg wardrobe)and a general facelift.
