The views were fantastic, really the best part of the hotel. It was great to have breakfast and/or a drink looking out over them. The gym was also really amazing possibly the best at any hotel I've stayed at (again the views helped) although slightly disappointing it wasn't mentioned at all by anyone and I only found it by accident on my second day.
The outdoor swimming pool was good - a good temp when you were in it much better than it looked.
I was 'upgraded' to one of the best class of rooms that should have been 330e per night - if I had paid that much I would have contacted my credit card company for a refund. The room was old, tired and covered in stains (both arm chairs, the carpet, the radio!). The bathroom was ok but very old. Only French TV channels which is unusual for a hotel like this. The bed linen was clean and the bed was comfortable.
If it had been a 2/3 star hotel I would have been ok with it but considering the room should have been 330e per night it was well below expectation.

Location was good.
Nice to have a pool.
The plates and cooking pans (for eggs) were dirty every morning at breakfast.
There is a sign saying if you wanted a savoury snack the chef could make it for you. I asked for two poached eggs and was told they wouldn’t make them, even when I showed them the sign.
The breakfast area is beautiful, unless you are placed in the sun - then you can hardly keep your eyes open and will be sweaty before you leave your table.
Two mornings the hot water for tea making ran out. The coffee machine was not working. Nutella ran out as did the orange juice. All took quite a while to refresh, and staff needed to be told.

I was a bit worried about booking this hotel because of the negative reviews I had read, mainly on Tripadvisor. Very happy I went ahead as I think this hotel offered good value for money compared to the other more expensive 4-star hotels in Marseille. The pool is so much nicer than the Radisson (we went to have a look). View from the breakfast/ restaurant & bar area overlooking the harbour/ sea is beautiful and having the rooftop bar and restaurant from the Sofitel (above the Novotel) was great. We went there both nights for some drinks and nibbles.
Breakfast could definitely be improved. Not enough staff to stay on top of things. Floor was quite dirty, had to ask several times for them to bring out more food. Cooking the eggs yourself (I guess the idea is nice) but it took forever. I can see why people complained about the upkeep of the interior. I think the hallways and rooms look in need of some attention, but they were all clean, and you don't want to spend much time in the room anyway when there's so much to explore!

A bit expensive and had to pay extra for breakfast and parking.

The location and the view are very nice, the breakfast is super
First they gave nme a room in a dark corner with now view and I could not open a window. When I complained I got a better room. The rooms are very simple and not cosy. They also forgot day to clean my room. I came also for the fitness but it was closed due to construction but they did not tell me this before.

Location
Really basic and poor decor, facilities and in its entirety not suitable for a 4 star hotel

Third floor is a little smelly and the bathroom was a bit tired. Needs an update / deep clean

We loved the pool, very needed in the recent heat. Breakfast is very good too. And the view from the breakfast area. Very nice and kind staff.
Nothing really.

The city was ideally located in close proximity to Vieux port, you had views over the port. It was a tranquil spot close to the city centre.
Rooms are outdated in comparison to the rest of the hotel.

Excellent location. Exceptionally lovely bar staff at the pool
The hotel is in dire need of a refurb. Communal areas including most furniture has not changed since my last visit circa 2010. Everything looks worn out. Also room wasn’t really clean. I checked under sofa bed to see if I had dropped something and there was a dirty old ear plug and dust fluff disgusting

Helpful staff, great underground parking, great location, epic petit dejeuner with a view of the old harbor.
Room was a little too modern, lots of hard surfaces, not much charm. We planned on visiting the town, but les manifestations were right outside the hotel, so we just hit the road--Marseille, un autre jour.

We loved our evening meal in the restaurant, the staff and the food were just great!
The hotel location is great being just enough away from the mayhem of the main port, it's like an oasis after some time in the bustle of Marseille.
I would have picked a better room if I could, though it served its purpose well.

Good location. Friendly staff. Great breakfast
Room was very hot and air conditioning seemed ineffective at cooling it down.
We had mixed responses about cost of the car park. One receptionist said we had to insert our ticket and pay, a second said we had to insert our ticket and not pay but a third said that we needed a separate ticket to allow us free exit. Quite costly to park so glad we enquired several times!
