The location of the hotel is second to none - we opened the window and we were looking straight at St Mark’s Basilica and Piazza San Marco

The room itself, and the furnishings, were lovely, and the view from the windows was STUNNING!!! However, that’s not enough to save the shortcomings unfortunately. The bath/shower was dangerous and unsuitable. The opening to climb into the bath was in the middle with two side panels of glass, and quite tall and deep on the other side. The step up and in was very steep and hard for me as I am quite short, and I have arthritis in my knees. It was VERY PAINFUL to try to manoeuvre my knees to get in and there was nowhere safe to grip on to, to support myself to the try to lift my other leg up and into the bath. If I gripped the side glass panels, I felt as though they were going to collapse and break, so I was forced to seemingly pull the shower-head down and wash the half of myself that had made it into the tub, by leaning in and down towards the floor of the bath. I then had to repeat the agony of the process to get out of the bath, turn around and attempt to do it all again on the other side. As I mentioned, I am short, the side of the bath is quite tall/deep, and the shower screen was fitted on to it - a sliding metal track. If I had slipped, it would have caused some very painful damage to areas that I can’t mention!!! For someone elderly, or anyone with mobility problems for any reason, there was nowhere safe with secure handrails or anything to grip to assist or support with getting in and out. My husband on the other hand is over 6ft 2inches, and he didn’t fit under the shower nozzle when he managed to get into the shower fully! Although the air conditioner was turned on (we could hear it humming continuously), it was ancient and not working. It failed to cool the room and left us sweating and very uncomfortable the entire night! There was no relief opening the windows to try to get breeze or airflow at least, and it was very noisy when we tried as the square is a buzzing activity area!
